We’ve seen a fair bit ofDeath Stranding 2: On the Beachso far, showing that the sequel is going to bejust as out there as its predecessor. One trailer gave us a look at a guitar being used as a weapon, although sadly, it wasn’t in Sam’s hands. No, this unique way of taking down enemies came from Higgs, so it appeared that we’d only be able to appreciate it from a distance.
However, that might not be the case after all. The ESRB rating for Death Stranding 2 can be viewed now, and the description of the game’s combat makes it sound like we’ll be shredding through enemies like Higgs too, as the guitar gets mentioned among the ways players can fight.
Death Stranding 2’s Guitar Weapon Isn’t A One-Off
This was quickly spotted by fans reading through the ESRB description, including PhillyPaw over onResetEra. The relevant section reads as follows: “Players use melee weapons (e.g., battle guitar) and firearms (e.g., machine guns, sniper rifles) to kill enemies.”
It doesn’t explain exactly what a battle guitar is, but it’s safe to assume that this means that Sam is also getting a guitar as a weapon. We briefly see Higgs use his as a melee weapon in the trailer, but it also shoots out electric damage, so we’ll have to wait and see if ours works the same.
Whatever this ends up looking like, we don’t have too much longer to wait until we have Death Stranding 2 in our hands. It’s set to launch on June 26, so about three and a half weeks away from now. Much like the first game, it is launching exclusively onPlayStation, only coming toPS5, although ports toXbox Series X/SandPCare expected sometime in the future.
