Death Stranding 2: On the Beachis officially out, andfans of Hideo Kojima’s mind-bending workare currently diving in, making new discoveries left and right,such as a much simpler way to bridge gaps. That said, this most recent discovery has almost nothing to do with the largerDeath Strandingworld, and everything to do with the world ofPlayStation, specificallyPlayStation Studios, its division of first-party developers.
As first shared on Reddit, within the customization menu of Death Stranding 2 is an outfit inspired byGhost of Yōtei, thenext game in Sucker Punch’s “Ghost” series and the next big PlayStation exclusive set for release.
There, you’ll be able to equip Sam with a mask inspired by protagonist Atsu. It’s the latest instance of a long-standing PlayStation tradition, where new games have references to old games, usually in the form of themed outfits.
PlayStation Is Always Paying Tribute To The Games In Its Portfolio
As mentioned up top, this wouldn’t be the first PlayStation tribute in another game. Of course,we all know that Astro Bot is the ultimate love letter to all things PlayStation, but other games have also kept the tradition alive.
For instance, inThe Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, Ellie has access to several shirts that are all based around previous PlayStation franchises, like Killzone. Elsewhere,in Ghost of Tsushima, there’s an unlockable Sly Cooper outfit.
Meanwhile, inDays Gone, Deacon’s bike could be customized with some snazzy PlayStation-themed skins, including one in honor of the first Death Stranding title. WithGhost of Yōtei set for an October release, it won’t be too long before we learn if it, too, keeps the tribute tradition alive. Here’s hoping.
