Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s reign as the highest-rated game on thePlayStationStore has come to an end thanks to a new Game of the Year frontrunner.
2025 might be an awful year for the gaming industryand everyone who works in it, butwe’ve had some incredible releases over the past seven months.Doom: The Dark Ages,Split Fiction, andKingdom Come: Deliverance 2all come to mind, but there’s onegame that’s been leading the pack for most of the year.
I am, of course, talking about Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Sandfall Interactive’s RPG masterpiece has been all anyone can talk about since it surprised us all back in April, to the point where it’s heldseveral records as the highest-rated game of the year in multiple categories. Sadly, that’s started to change.
Sorry Clair Obscur, You’ve Just Lost Another Of Your Top-Rated Crowns
This One Isn’t Really A Surprise, Though
Just a few weeks ago,we reported that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was no longer the highest-rated 2025 game on Metacritic, having lost that honour to Tears of the Kingdom on Switch 2. Clair’s awards removal season is continuing thanks to another highly-reviewed game -Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Before you panic, Death Stranding 2 hasn’t overtaken Clair Obscur’s Metacritic score like Tears of the Kingdom did. Instead,as pointed out by Twitter user Genki_JPN, Death Stranding 2 has now become the highest-rated game on the PlayStation Store, a title that previously was held by Clair.
As of the time of writing,Death Stranding 2: On the Beach currently has a 4.94 user ratingafter 13905 reviews, making it the highest-rated game on the PlayStation Store. On the other hand,Clair Obscur has a 4.91 rating with 46682 reviews, dropping it just below Kojima’s latest.
Of course, it’s worth remembering that Death Stranding 2 is a PS5 exclusive, so it’s bound to thrive on the PS Store.
Death Stranding 2’s ratings so far are made up of 97 percent five-star ratings, while Clair has 96 percent. It’s a very,veryslim line between the two (especially considering how many reviews Clair has), but it still places Death Stranding 2 as the top dog of the PlayStation Store.
