Gain Access To The Cain Estate

When you first gain control in Dead Take, you’ll beoutside the mansionwhere the game takes place, near one of the security booths on the property. The gate ahead is locked, though, and nobody is at the guard station, which means you’ll need to work out how to get into the party yourself.

Go into theopen door to the left of the main gateto check out the security office. There’s plenty of information to find here - a blank copy of an NDA in a drawer, a guest list for the party where your attendance is left up to management’s approval, and more - solook aroundbeforesolving the puzzle directly.

To find a blank key fob, turnleft of the computer desk, where you’ll see a small white box affixed to the wall. Open this box and remove theKey Fob (Blank), the large, blue circle hanging among decidedly plain other keys. Go back to the computer,use Key Fob (Blank) on the reader, and enter 51.320 as the code to activate it.

Go back to the gate with your activated key fob and use it on the reader to theleft of the main gate. You’ll see a scene, read some texts, and enter the Cain Estate.

Before you enter the mansion itself, you’ll come to an entry area, with thecoat check on the rightof where you enter and the garage to the left. Right now, you’ll need to venture into the coatroom - that painting that may have startled you in the window for coat check has a password you’ll need.

Entering the theater, you’ll be met with a choppy, distorted film reel playing on the big screen, but for now, make your way to thedoor in the opposite corner, down the steps past the couches. This is the hall that leads to theprojector room above the theater, where you’ll see the large projector machine on the far side of the room.

There’s plenty to explore in here that you’ll need for future puzzles, so be sure to look around for Media Files and instructions on editing software from the computers in the room, too.

Go over to the projector andinteract with the toolboxon the ground at the bottom. It opens, and you’ll be able totake the screwdriverfrom within the box, since it’s an essential tool for this puzzle. Check thework order noteleft on the stand with the projector to learn about the replacement parts you’ll need to find, which directs you to the estate’sstoreroom.

You’re unable to proceed for now, soleave the projector room and theater, making your way back to the basement of the house, andreturn to the first levelof the home. From the basement door, go back toward the exit but turn left before you get there, where you’ll see a door that’s blocked from the other side.

At this door, turn left again to proceed down a long, dark hallway toward agallery at the back of the house. You may again be summoned by a glowing red light, which you’ll find is therobot vacuum stuck in the corner. Its red light indicates a jam, sointeract with the vacuumto pick it up

Here, you’ll need torotate the Roombaso you can see the underside, and while using your cursor tohighlight the two screwson the bottom panel, you’ll have the chance touse the screwdriver to open the vacuum cleanerto clear the obstruction. In here, you’ll find that it seems to have sucked up thekey for the storage room, which you need to find to fix the projector in Dead Take.

If you haven’t been exploring too much outside of the main mission, then you’ll have bypassed the storeroom, since it’s pretty well-concealed within the estate. To find the storage room in Dead Take, you’ll need toreturn to the entrywayof the mansion back by the coat check room, and instead make your way to thegaragethis time.

With the storage room key in hand,open the door at the bottom of the stairsthat leads downinto the estate’s garage, and you’ll enter a rather dark storeroom. Use your flashlight and check theshelf to the right of the door, where you’ll find the case containing the replacement part for the projector.

With the part in hand,go back down to the projector roomat long last. You’ll need touse the screwdriver to open the panelon the projector, but before you get too far, you’ll need toopen the case with the partinside of it byinteracting with it in your inventory.

Then, with the new part removed from the case,interact with the partto extend an arm that makes the piece fit into the machine.Put the broken part into the caseyou got the new one from, and thenslot the replacement part into the machineto officially fix the Cain Estate’s projector.
