Pik-Sen Lim, a British actress who was born in Penang, has died at 80 years old,according to multiple reports. The actress, who began working in 1964, starred in a variety of projects,including most famously Mind Your Language, Spearhead and Johnny English Reborn.

However, to gamers, she is most recognizable as the voice actress behind the narrator in theDark Soulsseries. On Moby Games,she’s credited seven times for four games in the Dark Souls series, including most recently in Dark Souls: Remastered.

Immediately following news of her passing, tributes to the actress began flowing in from those within the larger Souls community, many of whom consider her voice work as an integral part of the series.

The Voice That Opened The Gates Of Dark Souls

On Reddit in the r/FromSoftware sub, news of her passing was met with sadness and tributes.

“It’s really underrated how important she is to Dark Souls,“one user wrote. “I mean, she sets the scene, sets the environment, and even sets the theme. She is the first impression of a new Dark Souls player, and she does an amazing job at it.”

Others used their post to recite some of the iconic lines that Lim gave life to, including, “Yes, indeed,“which one gamer says has become a permanent part of their day-to-day vocabulary.

Elsewhere, the full Dark Souls prologue on YouTube was flooded with tribute comments from those just learning of Lim’s passing. “Rest In Peace Pik-Sen Lim,” one fan wrote. “You were the first voice millions of Chosen Undead heard before their unforgettable journeys into the land of Lordran.”
