Sometimes it’s hard to resist doing the wrong thing when it feels so right, like falling in love with a Daedric Prince inOblivion Remastered. One of the things missing fromOblivion Remastered is the option to romance characters, but that won’t stop us from wondering which Daedric Prince would be the most toxic lover to give our beating heart to.

While Daedra are known as the demons of Tamriel, they’re more complex than you might think; you could even say they’re misunderstood. If Sheogorath’s booming voice ever quickens your heart rate, or you’re intoxicated by the thought of Hermaeus Mora’s tentacled form, then you’re in the right place.

Starting the Azura quest in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered.

8Azura

If you’ve everheard the Adoring Fan screaming Azura’s nameand wondered what all the hype is about, then you’re not alone. Based on how the fan obsesses over you and dotes on your every whim, maybe they used to be a lover of Azura who was eventually dumped for being an obsessive nuisance.

As absurd as it sounds, it’s not that far-fetched, since Azura is said to crave the love of her followers above all else, and even wants them to learn self-love. That sounds rather sweet, except for the fact that Azura is also known to turn her lovers into her enslaved thrall. Compared to the other Princes, it’s not the worst a Daedra has done, but enslaving a lover is still pretty toxic.

Oblivion Remastered Hermaeus Mora Receive Items 4

7Hermaeus Mora

Aside from the obvious ways in which Hermaeus Mora would make a great lover for some, this Daedric Prince is one of the most secretive gatekeepers of all time. You will be gaslit into believing anything Hermaeus Mora tells you, and every shred of knowledge Mora compiles will be gatekept from you; that’s not a very girlboss thing to do.

Mora’s love of knowledge and safeguarding reality sounds like a green flag, but obsessing over hoarding it and a superiority complex toward mortals? Major red flags. You won’t be winning a single argument, and what can be worse than someone who always has to be right? Maybe the dozens of eyes creepily watching you at all hours.

Oblivion Remastered screenshot of Nocturnal statue with two stone crows perched on each arm.

6Nocturnal

I wish my mom had taught me never to trust cute Daedric girls whose shrine statues feature them T-posing, but some life lessons have to be learned the hard way. Nocturnal may seem great based on her shrine quest, but if you’ve finishedthe Thieves Guild questline, then you know she can be cruel.

You could never trust any clothing gifts from Nocturnal after seeing the witchcraft that her cowl is capable of. Being erased from history and seen as a stranger by everyone in the world sounds like a horrible fate just for wearing a nice mask. Even if you avoid the gifts, you might be forgotten by the world if you’re too busy simping for Nocturnal every day, so there’s that.

Mehrunes Dagon in the Imperial City in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Oblivion.

5Mehrunes Dagon

While fire, steel, and four-armed demons might sound like a nice Saturday night down at your local dungeon, you might want to rethink your interest when it comes to Mehrunes Dagon. On the plus side, Dagon is a catalyst for change, but if thunderstorms, floods, earthquakes, and general chaos aren’t your cup of tea, maybe change isn’t all that positive.

Plus, how could you go to a Daedric Prince party when Dagon is constantly causing drama with Nocturnal and Molag Bal? Even if you’re cool with the chaos and general destruction, dealing with drama on nights out is so draining; stop crying in the club, Dagon.

The dinner party during the Sanguine quest in Oblivion Remastered.

4Sanguine

‘The Lord of Revelry and Pleasure’ might sound like an enticing sales pitch in favor of falling in love with Sanguine, and it’s the best one we’ve heard so far. A Daedric Prince whose main concern is indulging in food, wine, substances, and lust doesn’t sound as bad as the others, right? Wrong.

Falling for Sanguine has dangerous implications, especially if you want to be appreciated and loved for who you are. Sanguine is more interested in gathering a harem of lovers to enjoy and exploit in excess. Last time we checked, that ticks the box for majorly toxic energy.

Oblivion Remastered Shrine of Boethia.

3Boethia

Boethia’s title as the Prince of Cruelty and Torture might have an unintentionally alluring sound to it for some, but one look at Boethia’s other exploits should be enough to deter even the most masochistic lover.

If you’re wondering, Boethia can also be spelled as Boethiah, and both are considered correct.

Sheogorath in Oblivion Remastered.

Boethia is best known for deceit, murder, treason, and several other forms of unscrupulous backstabbing that would make any Scorpio blush. If you’re lucky enough to survive the betrayals, you’ll probably be tossed into a battle gauntlet against other lovers to fight over Boethia. Girl, run.

2Sheogorath

Sheogorath is the most fully fleshed-out Daedric Prince you meet in Oblivion Remastered, and the devil you know is usually better than the devil you don’t. Usually. That’s not the case here, as the more you learn about our beloved Sheo, the more alarm bells start ringing in your head.

Losing your sanity is a typical side effect of spending too much time in Sheogorath’s realm, and what’s even worse is the predestined transformation that morphs Sheogorath into Jyggalag to destroy said dimension. If you enjoy a massive personality change that could happen at the drop of a hat, there’s probably a Gemini down at the club you’re able to hit up.

Starting the Mephala quest in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered.

1Mephala

Mephala is the living embodiment of all the worst toxic traits wrapped up into a single Daedric Prince; it’s almost like the devs met my ex. Mephala enjoys murder, lies, sex, and secrets, which sounds like a pretty standard episode ofYou,except not even Joe Goldberg can compete with Daedric standards.

One of Mephala’s favorite pastimes is manipulating mortals into complex, interwoven webs of anguish, purely for her amusement. She doesn’t care about your well-being, and she loves ruining marriages while taking pleasure in the pain of others. Toxic doesn’t even begin to describe Mephala’s manipulation, making us wonder: Who hurt her?
