Summary
Nobody expected Cyberpunk: Edgerunners to be as good as it was. The story of a street rat becoming the king of Night City was received so well that evenCyberpunk 2077, which was still in its rebuild phase, saw a bump in its player count. It seems a sequel to the animated series might be announced next month, as per a cheeky tweet.
The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners handle recently tweeted that the team will be attending Anime Expo, which will be held in Los Angeles between July 3-6, 2025. While the tweet itself doesn’t mention a sequel, it does hint at one. We already knew that a new Cyberpunk animated series was in the works at Netflix, and it looks like the tweet is talking about the very same thing.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Sequel Could Be Announced Next Month
“Hey chooms!” says the tweet. “We’ll be attending Anime Expo in sunny Los Angeles on July 3-6, 2025! Stay tuned – the next datadrop’s almost here!” Of course, this datadrop could be anything, but since the tweet is from the Edgerunners account, and it’s making a big deal about attending Anime Expo, we can’t help but hope.
Back in November we gotconfirmation from CD Projekt Red that another Cyberpunk animated series was in the worksat Netflix. “I’m also very happy to announce that we’re working on another animation project set in the Cyberpunk universe, which will be released on Netflix,” saidCDPRCFO Piotr Nielubowicz during the earnings call.
Speaking of CD Projekt Red animations, we saw a ton ofnew footage of The Witcher 4 during yesterday’s State of Unreal event. While the footage and animation looked absolutely stunning, CDPR played it safe by making it known that this was a tech demo, and doesn’t represent what the final game will look like.
It was simply a demo to showcase the “powerful foundation” the game will be built upon. Not much else was revealed besides a video showing Ciri walking around some beautiful scenery and turning in a quest at a town.
