Days after a random post teased a “victory lap”, a leaker has claimed thatCrash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueledis getting a Grand Prix Edition release for current-gen consoles.
So far,2025 is shaping up to be a banner year for kart racing fans. Not only do we finally have anew Mario Kart game thanks to the Switch 2’s Mario Kart World, but the plumber’s rivalSonic is also getting his own racing game later in the year. As great as those are, though, we’re missing something from the real best kart racing series.
I am, of course, talking aboutCrash Team Racing. I might have a bit of aPlayStationbias, but Crash Team Racing is atotal gem of the genre that only got better with the Nitro-Fueled remake. Sadly, despite massive sales, Crash Team Racing has been in the dark for many years now and is stuck on last-gen consoles. That might not be the case for long, though.
We Might Be Getting A Current-Gen Release Of Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled
The Real King Of Kart Racing Could Be Coming Back
As reported by My Nintendo News, earlier this week, a post was made to the Crash Team Racing subreddit by Redditor HazelnutsUnknown, who claimed to have some big information about the future of the series. In the post, the user claims to work for a small studio under Activision and Microsoft, where they were assigned the project months ago.
The post claims that Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is getting a Grand Prix Edition that will launch for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC at some point in early 2026. The new release, which is said to not really be a port and instead an upgraded version, will include a few new characters and one track, as well as a reserve meter.
Alongside sharing the notes about the potential re-release, a few images of the alleged game were shared which interestingly hint at two items being held at once. Some of the renders used in the image look to be new as well, which does give a little more credence to the leak being true instead of a high-effort fake.
It seems that most Crash fans don’t believe this leak to be true based on the replies to the post. I’m definitely sceptical, but stranger things have happened.
That being said, it’s worth taking the post with a massive grain of salt. While it’s true that the Crash account’s post about CTR was suspicious and that a re-release is needed, it could very well have been faked by someone just wanting to see the game return. We should find out in due time, but god knows I want this rumour to come to pass.
