But, if you get a video recording of the salt being disturbed without anyone else near it, your boss might actually believe that it was paranormal activity.
This is what the Chronicle update has brought toPhasmophobia, fundamentally changing the way in which you gather and report on paranormal evidence in your investigations so that there can be no question. Let’s get into how you can gather these unique interactions in order to maximize your earnings from your ghost hunts.
How To Get Unique Photos
There once was a time when you could just throw down all nine piles of salt, take a bunch of photos of footsteps in the salt, and call it a day.With the arrival of the Chronicle update, those days are long gone.
Before we go into what you can take unique photos of, let’s talk aboutwhat you can no longer take photos of:
The photos you take need to beirrefutable evidence of a ghost interaction. So things like theEMF reader showing any reading, a burned crucifix, the thermometer showing a negative temperature, ultraviolet fingerprints, and, of course, the ghosts themselves. However, now there arefour different ghost photosthat you are able to get. These are the types of photos you need to strive for to maximize your earnings.
You will needfive unique photosto count towards a perfect investigation. Duplicates will not only be worth less money, but also mean youwon’t get the perfect investigation bonusat the end of your match. you’re able to, however,delete up to three of any mediaif you accidentally get a duplicate.

For each type of media, you’ll get a tier bonus when using tier two and tier three of the Photo Camera, Video Camera, and Sound Recorder.It’s $1 for tier two, and $2 for tier three.Unfortunately, there’s no bonus for tier one equipment.
How To Get Unique Sound Recordings
The Chronicle update brought a brand-new type of equipment: the sound recorder. With this item, you cancapture various types of paranormal soundsduring your investigation. These could be paranormal talking, laughing, the sound of an EMF 5 reading going off, the sound of a ghost burning a crucifix, and many more.
The sound recorder is the easiest item to get a duplicate recording with, becausesometimes you don’t know what you’ve recordeduntil you check the journal. Especially with the tier one version. So, listen carefully when using the sound recorder, andbe prepared to delete any duplicates you get.
As with other items,there are three tiers to the sound recorderthat are unlocked at different levels.

To use the sound recorder, make sure it’s in your hand. Press your use button (right mouse button on PC, RT/R2 on controller) to turn it on. Then, to record something,hold down that same button.
On the tier one recorder,you’ll see lights movingwhen there is a sound nearby. When the lights go into the green, you know you’re near a good sound. On tier two and tier three,you’ll see the sound waves moving on the screen.
When you start to see activity on the recorder,hold down the record buttonand move closer to the sound to capture it. You’ll know you’ve captured the sound successfullywhen the recorder stops recording automatically.
Be surenot to lift your finger off the record buttonuntil the game automatically stops the record function, or you risk not fully capturing the sound clip.
The Tier three recorder is extra helpful, because when it starts picking up a sound, it’ll show you in the bottom right cornerwhat direction the sound is coming from.

How To Get Unique Video Recordings
Prior to the Chronicle update,video cameras were mainly used for detecting ghost orbs, seeing the Goryo D.O.T.S. ability, and monitoring for ghost activity from the truck.
The update brought with it theability to capture video recordingsof ghost events and interactions, including stepping in salt, ghost writing, thrown objects, and much more.
You’ll get the tier one video camerawith your other starting items, but you can later unlock tiers two and three by leveling up.
As with the photos and sound recordings, each video you takemust be unique to count for a perfect investigation, so try to verify you’re not taking duplicates.
Thebest way to avoid taking duplicate video recordingsis to be mindful of what’s in front of your camera, and tonot leave the camera recording indefinitely, whether you’re holding the camera or you’re recording from the truck.
Just like with the sound recorder,you’ll hold down your use button to record videowhen holding the camera in your hand. If you’re watching from the truck, there’s arecord button below the screenthat you’re able to press.
When something shows up in the view finder that you may record,a bracket will appear with a label of the object.
While recording, you’ll see a loading circle in the middle of the screen, followed by a down arrow symbol,similar to the save icon. When you see the arrow, you’ll know the recording was captured.If the recording is ever interrupted, or the event doesn’t last long enough, you won’t get the recording.
