Clair Obscur: Expedition 33came out of nowhere, and has quickly become one of the contenders for Game of the Year. Not only did it sella million copies in one day, but it also claimed the spot ofhighest-rated game in 2025so far. Not content with that, the game casually took the mantle ofhighest-rated user-scored game on Metacritic ever.
A lot of this is down to the game’s artistic choices and setting, while the unique approach to turn-based combat undoubtedly helped. Aside from those, it seems that players absolutely love the design of the enemies and the continent. However, one friendly guy has particularly stood out. Fans will know that I’m talking about Esquie, of course.
We’re Getting An Official Esquie Plushie
So don’t fall for the fake ones
Clair Obscur fans already let the devs know about their adoration for Esquie, begging Sandfall to commission a plushie for the character. CEO Guillaume Brochehinted that it already may be in the works. However, soon after that, it seems there were a slew of fake or AI-rendered Esquie plushies on the internet.
“We’ve noticed a number of suspicious websites popping up, claiming to sell Esquie plushies. This makes us whooo,” said atweet on the game’s handle. “To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed. Many of them are using AI-generated artwork to advertise, and we strongly recommend against purchasing from these sources. They could be scams.”
However, this was followed up with great news for Esquie stans, as an official plushie is going to be revealed soon. “But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!”
It seems Sandfall has heard the pleas of fans, and is in the process of getting an official Esquie plushie made. You’ll have to wait for it, though, as a plushie of this kind takes time to design and manufacture. We’re really hoping they announce a limited edition life-sized one too!
