In a statement shared on social media on Thursday,Sandfall Interactive, the developers behind 2025s breakout hit,Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, took a stand against allegations of the studio being racist against non-whites, asking fans to not “weaponise” the game as a means of spreading hate.

The studio’s statement comes roughly a day after an unnamed Twitter user levied accusations that the company refused to hire non-French, minorities.

The Accusations Are Seemingly Unfounded Based On The Game’s Reported Staff

Originally,a Twitter user by the name of Hocine shared that “they refuse to hire non-French or non-colored people before even looking at the CV,” according to a machine translation, with the “they” being Sandfall.

Their initial post came in response to an announcement that the Expedition 33 team would be at Japan Expo for a panel and autograph session.

Following their initial post, the user went on to share some anonymous messages that a person tried submitting their resume in person, but was turned away, only for reportedly a white person to be hired shortly after.

It is the first instance of such accusations against the developers. However, the title’s Moby Games page, which is publicly available, shows both women and minorities as part of the game’s staff, including in production, as well as gameplay animation.
