Summary
Minor spoilers for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 party members ahead.
Replacing your character with mods is nothing new. Recently, somebodychanged Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Henry with Shrek and Mutt with Donkey, and last year, somebody else replacedSilent Hill 2’sJames withGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas' CJ and Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil.
So, while they’re nothing new, this next effort deserves to be commended, as one player seems utterly committed to replacing all ofClair Obscur: Expedition 33’sparty members with characters fromDigimon.
The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 x Digimon Crossover Groundwork Is Being Laid By One Fan
Over onNexus Mods, one keen Digimon enthusiast has been replacing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s lead cast with Digimon characters.
Their first replacement came just four days after the game released, with modder HallowSL swapping a handful of Verso’s costumes withWarGreymon, and the obsession seemingly spiraled from there.
A couple of days later, on April 30, the lovable Gestral Noco was replaced withToyAgumon, and two of Maelle’s costumes were replaced withMinervamon. Following that, Sciel had her outfits replaced withDianamon.
Given Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s surrealist world and landscapes, the Digimon characters look like they fit in surprisingly well with their surroundings. They look a little odd next to other Clair Obscur characters, but when they’re together, they fit like a glove. Noco, as ToyAgumon, is perfect in this scenario.
Undoubtedly, HallowSL is hard at work creating Digimon versions of the remaining party members, Gustave, Lune, and Monoco, and I can’t wait to see what they cook up. I also never knew I needed to hear the wonderfulBen Starras a Digimon, but it just works. Is there anything this man can’t do?
These mods alone make the game worthy ofall the wonderful support it’s getting.
