Chrono Odyssey’s first beta has now concluded after 72 hours, and it seems everyone who played the upcoming MMO has a strong opinion on it.
If one were to search for “Chrono Odyssey” on YouTube, one would be met with a barrage of similar-looking thumbnails, specifically worried-looking faces with some sort of negative adjective plastered alongside these creators' haggard expressions.
Overly Critical?
A subsection of the budding Chrono Odyssey community takes objection to these reactions, saying one of the reasons the game has been so widely criticised is that content creators form first impressions without giving the game a proper chance.
AReddit thread from Bioparadoxaexpresses this opinion, saying, “I just feel like the YouTubers making the videos formed their opinion way too quickly without actually playing.”
The comments are divided, as some people agree with this sentiment while others write off as players “coping” with the game, they were excited for being underwhelming.
“I will repeat once again, YouTubers / streamers are not relevant people,” writesOne-Training-6443. “Their opinion doesn’t matter, don’t give importance to these people, your mistake is thinking that they are someone important, but in fact they are insignificant.”
People with this opinion claim that content creators are rage-baiting, nitpicking and being overly critical in order to fit in with peers who are doing the same.
“This is not a big conspiracy,” commentsPepi8677. “If you see everywhere that it’s not good and the future doesn’t seem bright, there is probably something there.”
There’s no denying that Chrono Odyssey has problems, even if players enjoyed the core loop on display in the beta. It’s a matter of whether Chrono Studios can address these problems before launch, which, based on thesimilarities between Chrono Odyssey and New Worlddespite years of development, seems unlikely to some observers.
Chrono Odyssey doesn’t have a specific release date, but is slated to release during the last quarter of 2025.
