Those issues pale in comparison to the latest controversy, though, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 now coming under fire for seemingly copying a gun straight out of 2022’sHigh on Life.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Latest Weapon Skin Looks Suspiciously Familiar

Over the last few days, the Black Ops 6 community hasbeen dividedover the game’s latest event. The High Art update is another example of Activision seemingly going all in on weed, introducing famous pot head Seth Rogen as one of the game’s new operators, changing Nuketown, and adding a bunch of cannabis-themed items. Feelings were mixed.

But as the new Reward Track rolled out, Reddit user Hour_Gas3538spotted somethingfar more egregious, and something far more worthy of debate — a weapon skin that looks suspiciously familiar to the weapons in High on Life.

High on Life, developed by Squanch Games and notably divisive when it was released, was famed for its talking weapons, each of which featured an alien face at the top of the handle, something a new weapon in Black Ops 6 is almost identical to.

The weapon blueprint Flameware features an equally goofy face atop the gun, and it looks like it has been dragged straight out of Squanch Games' 2022 title. Naturally, it hasn’t gone down too well with the Black Ops 6 community.

One commenter in the thread said, “They have less than zero shame, they literally rip off Apex and Fortnite characters like no one’s gonna notice,” while another added, “That was the first thing I noticed as soon as I saw a glimpse of it in the trailer, smh.”

In a time when Call of Duty desperately needs a win, further alienating segments of the audience probably isn’t going to do it any favors.
