Summary

Well, that didn’t take long.

A little more than a week after coming under fire for telling gamers worried about the price ofBorderlands 4that,if they were a “real fan” they’d find a way to make it happen, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has once again made another tone-deaf comment.

Inattemptingto share thatTiny Tina’s Wonderlandsis free onPC, Pitchford said that it was for “our real fans who may be cost-sensitive,” before providing details on how to claim the 2022 title.

Pitchford’s decision to double down on his “real fans” comments was immediately met with backlash in his replies.

Soon Enough, Borderlands Won’t Have Any Fans, If Randy Continues To Talk

“Seems like a very backhanded comment,“one user wrote in response. They’re not wrong, either. That Pitchford had to find a reason to bring up “real fans” and cost sensitivity isanother nail in what has been a bad run of PR for the brand.

When criticized for his use of the phrase “cost-sensitive” by a user, Pitchford simply asked “How are you doing?” seemingly ignoring the issue at hand.

In another reply, when confronted with the reality of his backhanded comment, Pitchford wasn’t buying his comments as being offensive, instead attempting to mask them as a chance to get a game for free.

Only time will tell what impact Pitchford’s comments have on the sales of Borderlands 4, but it’s abudnantly clear that fans are getting sick and tired of being insulted over their concerns about paying $80 for a game.
