Bojack Horseman and Tuca & Bertie’s Lisa Hanawalt made her MTG debut with the latest in a series of bonus reprints of the cards we’ve seen sporadically pop up in drops.
First revealed onSecret Lair Collectorssubreddit by/u/DasKomissar, Hanawalt’s card is a new take on Seven Dwarves. It features Hanalwalt’s iconic anthropomorphic animals in modern, casual clothing, with the ‘dwarves’ as cats riding geese, frogs, and rabbits.

As mentioned, Hanawalt is perhaps best known as the producer and artist of Netflix’s Bojack Horseman, and these cats do all look rather like the show’s Princess Caroline. She also fronted her own show, with Tuca & Bertie running for one season on Netflix, before being picked up for a second season on Adult Swim.
Most Secret Lair drops have a bonus card of some sort. Usually it’s one for that year’s creature type (this year it’s Zombies), but once in a while it’ll be a bonus card specific to that drop, In some drops, though, the bonus card might be like this: a special reprints of Seven Dwarves. The card allows you to run seven copies of it in your deck, making the urge to collect these limited editions all the stronger.
Hilda, Bob’s Burgers, Now Bojack Horseman
Hanawalt isn’t the first cartoon artist to do art for Magic, and in fact her bonus card was found in the drop by another one – Bob’s Burger’s Jay Howell. We can probably expect Hanawalt to have her own drop eventually, too, as different art that looked suspiciously like her style was shown off atlast year’s preview panel.
Between Hanawalt, Howell, and Hilda’s Luke Pearson, Secret Lair is developing quite an impressive roster of famous animators and artists. It’s also upping the quality of its reprints, withthe upcoming Final Fantasy dropsincluding, among other things, Heroic Intervention and Cyclonic Rift.
