Summary

Black Myth: Wukongis easily one of 2024’s best games, and even though it didn’t win any actual awards,it did win Player’s Voice at The Game Awards. That alone shows just how much the game resonated with the public, but for the best part of a year, it’s a game that Xbox fans haven’t been able to play.

It was a real mystery as to why Black Myth: Wukong didn’t release on Xbox alongside PlayStation and PC, with the company itself suggesting thatsome kind of back-handed exclusivity deal had been made. It didn’t turn out to be the case, as the game’s director eventually came out and explained it wasdue to difficulties with the Xbox Series S.

Black Myth: Wukong Xbox Release Date Officially Revealed

Ever since, we’ve been waiting patiently for news on exactly when Xbox users will be able to play Black Myth: Wukong. Thankfully, that wait will be over pretty soon,as Xbox itself has confirmed via its official Twitter accountthat Black Myth: Wukong it hit Xbox consoles on August 20 later this summer, with pre-orders set to begin on June 18 this month.

Unfortunately, those are all the details we’ve been given at the moment, so it’s unclear whether a physical is in the works, or if it will be included on Xbox Game Pass. It’s possible we could get a little update during the Xbox Showcase later this week, which promises to be absolutely crammed with big game announcements and reveals. I can see Xbox saving Black: Myth Wukong for a little Game Pass sizzle reel at some point during the show.

It’s also possible we could get a DLC announcement there too.Developer GameScience has reportedly been working on some, and an Xbox re-release would be a great opportunity to release some kind of definitive edition on all platforms. I guess we’ll find out when the Xbox Showcase rolls around.
