Summary
Minecraft’s Chase The Skies update introduced us to the Happy Ghast. These can be acquired by crafting a Dried Ghast block, placing it in water until it becomes a Ghastling, and then feeding it snowballs until it becomes happy. The resulting Happy Ghast is one of the most flexible and unique mobs in the game.
Happy Ghasts can be ridden by up to four players, moved by using snowballs or a lead, and can also be used as a platform. As a result, a number of players have some unique and interesting uses for this new mob.
10Happy Ghast House By OmniGod Gamer
What better way to celebrate the happy ghast than by making it your home? This design by Omnigod Gamer is split into two parts, but the build goes together and the home’s exterior goes down from the tiny house on top and into the hollow happy ghast statue.
This build creates the illusion of a home drifting away on top of a ghast, but without the hassle of actually drifting away on top of a ghast. Also, we hear it’s frowned upon to try and excavate a ghast for extra space.
9Happy Ghast City By Caster
Your ghasts would live their best life in this purpose-built city by Caster. The central focus is a statue, and it’s surrounded by activities to keep your ghasts happy. Who needs to block ghasts in when you can keep them entertained?
Highlights include a lovely cherry blossom forest, a spa area and a tastefully decorated interior which is placed inside the statue. Your ghasts are sure to stick around to enjoy this luxury accomodation.
8Happy Ghast Hanger By Thiing
If you want something more functional for your ghasts, then a hanger could be the solution. Thiing has built a four-ghast hanger here which is sunk into the ground. Each numbered area features a hanger bay for a happy ghast who can move freely in and out.
Between the hanger bays are workshop-looking areas where you can presumably do maintenance work. We’re not sure how you maintain a ghast, but maybe you can find out. Demonstrations were not included in the video.
7Ghastation By Barce
Winning the competition you didn’t know existed for best title, the Ghastation has been designed by Barce to fit perfectly into a larger city build. The building scale is huge but down one side are docks for ghasts to stay.
At the bottom ghasts can get some gas from the pumps. Once again we aren’t really sure where you put gas in a ghast but are assuming it must be possible, or why would the option be here?
6Happy Ghast Elevator, Train And Parkour By Jmox
Jmox shows off by using the happy ghast in three different ways to make functional builds. The first is a simple elevator, then a train, and finally a parkour course that’s not for the unskilled.
The builds are simple, but they all work well and are easily replicated and added to. This is the kind of thing which kick starts ideas for a happy ghast-based economy where these adorable mobs do our bidding and become our transport.
5Happy Ghast Factory By Linard
This ghast factory by Linard sees ghasts galore created in a steampunk-looking factory deep in the nether. The front is domineering and slightly ominous, especially when ghasts begin flooding out of the front.
Inside is a range of chambers, mechanics, traps and screens. We’re not entirely sure what’s going on down here, but we’re fairly sure it’s not good. Maybe this is where the ghasts who aren’t happy being trains and elevators are sent.
4Happy Ghast Elevator By PotatoMC
There’s no exterior around this happy ghast elevator by potatoMC but it is a great way of showing how you can create a simple elevator mechanism which can be put in your own builds. You can add your own design around it.
This may be small, but it’s well-designed and practical. Just make sure that your ghast stays happy or disaster will strike. We really don’t want a Terminator-style rise of the machines here.
3Happy Ghast Station By Lelliecraft
This quirky ghast station can be built as a single dock, or garage if you prefer, and scaled up. The finished version by Lelliecraft includes one ghast with a saddle of every color, and is tiled before being finished.
The finishing touches are a sign and a small docked zeppellin. We can only assume that you have to travel by airship to get to your ghasts, who will take you the rest of the way.
2Happy Ghast Dock By Blockson
Blockson’s ghast station is a vibrant and happy design, utilizing color and a more whimsical style. There’s also a small variant of the docking mechanism which is shown on the side of a house.
This is practical and cute, matching well with the simple style of many start homes. A beginner ghast owner should look into this solution for their happy ghast storage needs.
150 Ways To Use The Happy Ghast By Skip The Tutorial
There’s always one who goes above and beyond and here it’s Skip The Tutorial, who has no fewer than 50 uses for a happy ghast. I won’t list them all, but broadly they include: ways to use ghasts to collect items, ways to travel by sitting on ghasts, and ways to dangle things underneath ghasts. There’s even a way to use a ghast as a weapon.
There are no tutorials here, but there are ideas galore and your head will be full of ways to get the most out of this new mob, which it turns out is far more versatile and useful than anyone expected.
