Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Timefeatures a whopping 50 party members for you to potentially recruit to your team. They’re known in-game as Buddies, and they’ve certainly got your back. you’re able to take up to three with you at once, for a party of four. Whether you’re crafting, gathering, or bludgeoning some beasties, Buddies are a boon.

With so many to choose between, it might be helpful to know which Buddies we’ve found to be the most useful. This is something of a subjective analysis, to be sure, but we reckon you’ll find these characters well worth your while.

The Paladins: Hilda, Jake, Laura, Mustang, Odin, Olivia

Getting aPaladinon your team isn’t even a bad idea ifyou’replaying a Paladin. Thesedamage-soakersare terrific foraggroing enemies off of your back so that you may focus on wailing on them, and spend less time on the defensive.

They can also bequite savvy at staying alive. Outfit them with decent enough equipment, and they’ll generallydo a good job of maintaining their HP whilst drawing monsters' attention toward them.Even if they fall, it’s worth spending a couple of seconds to revive them.

In our experience,Mustang is perhaps the best Paladin. He’s held on strong in the face of some dire odds, and he’s done so on more than one occasion. This may be down to simple luck, however; they’re all quite solid.

The Magicians: Cliff, Colin, Daemon, Hazel, Sloane, Yuelia

Magiciansare the opposite of Paladins, which is to say, they’re predictably squishy. Having a Paladin around you (whether it’s you or somebody else - or both) will help toensure your Magician isn’t slaughteredon the battlefield.

Such protective measures are well worth the trouble, asMagicians can deal magic-based damage(natch), which ishighly effective against specific types of foes. They’re glass cannons, to be sure. But they’reyourglass cannons, and they can makehigh-defense foes melt.

Yuelia’snot a Strangeling(!), but rather, apost-game rewardforcollecting all 50 Golden Celestia’s Gifts. Suffice it to say, you’ll not be taking her with you throughout Fantasy Life i’s main story.

All Gathering And Crafting Buddies

While it may seem like something of a copout, we can’t emphasize enough thatevery Buddy with Gathering, orespeciallyCrafting, Lives is well worth finding.

Gathering boosts while you’re Woodcutting, Angling, Mining, and/or Farmingcan be substantial. You’ll get boosts even from other types of Buddy, but they’ll specifically up your chopping/fishing/picking ante.

Crafting boosts are even bigger deals, and you’ll want to bring along anotherCarpenterwhile doing carpentry, another aCookwhile cooking, and so forth. These are pivotal toachieving the best results for your crafted items.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time hasa wide array of Buddies who fit these tasks. You’ll findbetween two and threeof each Strangeling, by our reckoning - maybe more. Your first Carpenter,Kunugi, is a mandatory hire!

Introductions to other vocation Buddies will occur over time, so it won’t be long before you find whoever it is that you need the most.
