There are a few Hero options for every role inMarvel Mystic Mayhem, but all of those Heroes fill their roles a little bit differently. This enables you to create somegreat team compositions, but can also stick you with a terrible team composition, too.
Doctor Strange is a Controller class, making his job to support his allies and/or make life difficult for his enemies. In Doctor Strange’s case, he’s capable of doing both to varying degrees. He has a bit more flexibility than Sleepwalker, another Controller, even if he has a bit less focused power in specific areas.
Doctor Strange Hero Overview
Doctor Strange is not going to be a damaging powerhouse on his own, nor is he going to be capable of the consistent healing output of a character like Sleepwalker. But, he does have utility that Sleepwalker doesn’t have, allowing him to buff allies in different ways, as well as stun enemies without much cost.
At his best,Doctor Strange is going to allow your team to put an end to a fight quicker than they otherwise would. At his worst, when your team is on the cusp of being able to survive a situation, Doctor Strange is not going to be able to provide the consistent healing that they need to eke out the victory.
Here are Doctor Strange’s three active abilities, and his passive:
Arcane Enhancement
Passive
Doctor Strangepassively gains up to three stacks of this, and each stack increases the damage or healing of his abilitiesby 12 percent per stack. You’re usually going to have at least one stack of this ready anytime you activate an ability, meaning you’ll almost never be using skills at their default value.
Crimson Bands of Cyrrorak
2
Thisdeals damage to an enemy, and stuns them for three seconds. This will not stun many boss enemies, instead only damaging them. It does deal a surprising amount of damage, particularly if you’ve got more than one stack of Arcane Enhancement ready.
Vishanti’s Blessing
Thisgives you a selection of spells to choose from, with each spell costing one mana to use after this. These spells includea Damage Buff, Heal, Defense Debuff, or an Ultimate Charge boost.
Eye of Agamotto
Ultimate (300)
This is aheal that affects a large range. It also removes one random debuff from allies, if they’re afflicted with any. Creative placement of this can heal most, if not all, of your team.
Tips For Using Doctor Strange
One thing toalways keep in your pocket with Doctor Strange is a heal from Vishanti’s Blessing. This will cost three Mana overall; two for the Spell and one for the actual heal, once you choose it.You will not always have the option to select a healing spell, making it unreliable when it’s crunch time, and you absolutely need to heal.
But, if you grab the heal and keep it in your hand until you need it, you’ll find you’re able to use a heal in desperate situations more often.
For yourdamage buff, you’ll often want to put that on your Hero that’s already dealing the most damage. It’s a percentage-based buff, meaning the more damage the Hero is already doing, the more bonus they’re going to get from the buff.
Best Team Compositions For Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange isnot as capable of the group healing consistency of Sleepwalker; his only group heal is his Ultimate ability, and unless you’re feeding Doctor Strange a lot of Ultimate Charge buffs, he’s not going to be able to use that enough to sustain everyone.
On top of that, because he lacks a consistent group heal,he’ll have a difficult time keeping up his healing on more than one ally. For this reason, it’s helpful to run him with a ranged damage dealer; most of the damage will stay focused on the Defender, meaning Doctor Strange mostly has to worry about healing that one character.
Hero
Defender
Hulk-Can self-sustain a bit with his ownUltimate ability, taking some of the healing pressure off Doctor Strange and allowing Strange to use his other abilities to help the team often.
Juggernaut-Can block enough damage regularlythat Doctor Strange won’t need to constantly send out healing towards him.
Damage Dealer
Any ranged damage dealer will do. These are going to be your Strikers, which include Misty Knight and Lady Bullseye.
Fighters are not as good of a fit for Doctor Strange. That’s not to say that you may’t use them, but if you’re struggling at keeping people alive, switch a Fighter to a Striker and you might have more luck.
