Yu-Gi-Oh! TCGside sets are always welcome in the community. They’re not core sets, but they provide plenty of reprints, unique rarities, and some fresh support that can tilt the scales in the favor of older decks. In Battles of Legend: Monster Mayhem, we get cards from the P.U.N.K., Orcust, and Dragonmaid archetypes.

There are even some surprise reprints that no one was expecting to see as entire engines become more readily available. This is one set that hits it out of the ballpark with the card pool. So what are some of the cards you want to see and which ones are just cope?

10The Generic Pool

Cards Great For Any Deck

Forbidden Droplet, Triple Tactics Talent, Artifact Lancea, Knightmare Phoenix, Knightmare Unicorn, are all generic cards that are good to have. While these may have gotten reprints in other sets, each additional reprint just helps bring the price down.

These cards are also great for beginners, since they can be used to break boards, interrupt some of the best decks, and give you value no matter what kind of deck you want to use. So if you already have these cards, pass them on to someone you want to get into the game.

9Jurrac Volcano

Dinosaur Gets A Personal Nibiru

Dinosaur always has some jank strategy up its sleeve, especially with all the generic endboard pieceshitting the banlistat some point. It’s a deck that kind of dies easily but can set up game-locking scenarios. Jurrac Volcano only requires a Jurrac Meteor in the Extra Deck to become the deck’s exclusive Nibiru.

This is yet another card that can be used to pop the baby. Unfortunately, it can only pop them if they’re on the field. Luckily, having a Nibiru that you don’t need in your hand coming from a searchable Field Spell isn’t a bad tradeoff.

8D/D Count Surveyor

Prepare For D/D/D

The D/D archetype is getting a resurgence with better support that finally makes the original card capable of something more. D/D has a pretty unique effect as it basically mashes up two monsters on your opponent’s side of the field in exchange for making one of theirs just as strong as the two tributed monsters.

This card also acts as a searcher for your D/D monsters with zero attack and defense. It’s a Pendulum Monster with board breaking and board starting effects. This makes it versatile going forwards as the archetype continues to grow.

7Orcust Galatea-i, The Orcust Automaton

Any archetype that gets a Link-1instantly becomes a deck to keep an eye on. Orcust Galatea-i, The Orcust Automaton is a retrain of an older card but with a few upgrades. One of these is the easier Summoning condition.

It’s also a searcher that only requires a discard to use. This is useful since it can pull cards from both the deck and the graveyard, giving it that extra bit of flexibility. It can also bring itself back which is great for setting up more material on the board.

6Gem-Knight Nepyrim

An Extra Normal Summon

Gem-Knights get easier to use with the help of Gem-Knight Nepyrim. This is an additional starter for the archetype as it can search out any Gem-Knight card when Summoned. So this can be in your hand, and you use it as a Normal Summon or you can bring it out by other means to get the search.

This card also gives you a second Normal Summon as long as you have what you need in your hand. That’s where the search comes in handy. It also has a means of Special Summoning itself which is always welcome.

5Noh-P.U.N.K. Rising Scale

P.U.N.K. Gets Stronger

Noh-P.U.N.K. Rising Scale doesn’t let you cheese out level eights for an instant XYZ Summon, but it does help you get things started. All it takes is a banish from your hand to Special Summon this card to the field.

With many of the P.U.N.K. cards preferring that you have fewer life points than your opponent to kick off some good effects, this card can drop you down by 600. This also Special Summons a P.U.N.K. from the deck or grave, giving you more bodies to work with.

4Lady’s Dragonmaid

A Generic Dragon Summon

Lady’s Dragonmaid is one of the best cards to pull from this set if you want to upgrade your Dragonmaid deck. These monsters love tagging out of their maid forms and into their dragon forms. This Fusion brings out another Dragonmaid from the deck while also giving you a chance to Fuse without Polymerization.

This Fusion also takes place during the Standby Phase and not just your own. So, as long as you have the materials for it in the right place, you can create a Dragon jumpscare for your opponent to deal with.

3Primite Lordly Lode

Primite Is Everywhere

Whenever reprints happen for a good engine, most players expect maybe one of themore valuable cardsto become cheaper. Monster Mayhem catches players by surprise by including three of the best Primite cards.

One of the more important ones is Primite Lordly Lode which gets a secret rare reprinting in this set. It’s not a lesser rarity which is a shame, but getting another chance to pull this only makes the cards easier to pull or buy as singles. So it’s time to put your favorite vanilla monsters to good use.

2Primite Dragon Ether Beryl

A Monster Keeps Coming Back

Primite Dragon Ether Beryl is useful for a handful of things. It can set Primite Spells and Traps directly from the deck. For Spells, this means being able to activate them the same turn without having to add them to the hand first.

You can also use this card to dump Normal monsters into the graveyard and set up some plays. This also comes with the updated text that specifies that it comes back to your hand during your Standby Phase and not each one. This is probably why it got a reprint so early into its lifespan.

1Primite Drillbeam

One Annoying Interruption

Primite Drillbeam completes the Primite collection available in Monster Mayhem. This card can get pretty annoying since it’s a negate that keeps coming bac which makes it easier for you to suppress your opponent’s options each turn.

You essentially get to negate one card on the field then banish it to prevent any graveyard effects from going off. This removal can be quite deadly since it can hit anything. This includes Traps, Spells, monsters, you name it. Just make sure they’re face up.
