The wave of 2025 starter decks for theOne Piece Card Gamewere not only an excellent way for new players to jump into an incredible game at a low cost, but an avenue for seasoned players to explore older strategies that may not have worked in the past.

With the addition of extra effect searchers and power buffs that last until the end of your opponent’s turn, these starter decks immediately made a huge splash in the competitive scene and the game as a whole. Buying one of these decks will guarantee that your deck’s power level will increase, and you’ll even get an extra booster pack for your troubles. These are the best cards you can get from the starter decks.

Kid And Killer from ST24 from One Piece Card Game.

10Kid & Killer

The Duo Is Back

Searchers are some of the most important cards in the One Piece Card Game, but with this wave of starter decks, the game received searchers that have a secondary effect after. Kid & Killer is a two-drop card that can search for Supernova-type characters.

Although Supernovas already have a green searcher in the shape of Jewelry Bonney from the first green starter deck, this card can trash itself when your opponent attacks, giving you a DON!! to use for a counter or a powerful Bonney leader effect.

Kouzuki Momonosuke from ST28 in the One Piece Card Game.

Rush For Game

Wano-type cards have consistently been a powerhouse in the game, except forleaders of the same time. There’s just such an abundance of Wano cards that they’ve become a powerful engine seen in many different decks.

This Momo card changes the reputation of the engine by a tiny bit. The card is agreat generic yellow tool, but being a part of the Yamato starter deck, it feels far more at home in the green and yellow deck.

Yamato from ST28 in One Piece Card Game.

8Yamato

Just like Kid & Killer, this Yamato card is one of the 2025 searchers that has a secondary effect. Not only can this card find another one of the powerful Land of Wano cards in your deck, pairing it with the Yamato leader effect will give an extra swing that could close out the game for you.

Land of Wano already has two other green character searchers, but this Yamato is miles ahead from the other two. As long as they keep printing yellow leaders, the Wano engine will stay on top.

Monkey.D.Luffy from ST26 from One Piece Card Game.

Power Buff For Both Turns

This wave of starter decks not only brought searchers with extra effects, but also came with a huge wave that will affect the game’s power level from this moment on. Many cards featured in the starters have effects that will give your leader an extra 2,000 power until the end of your opponent’s turn.

For purple decks, they gotthis six-cost purple Luffy, which can not only give you that buff when it’s played, but you can do it every time the character attacks, given that you have the required DON!! cost.

Gum-Gum Giant from OP09 Emperors In The New World.

6Gum-Gum Giant

The Best Counter Event In The Game

There are plenty of newly released cards in the starter decks, but even through all of the double effect searchers, and power-boosting characters, a Gum-Gum Giant reprint is still one of the best cards in the pool.

This card is an incredible defensive tool for just about any purple Straw Hat Pirates deck. Its low cost, and huge power boost on counter, make it an essential tool for those with less than five life. We wouldn’t be surprised if this card is – at least – limited soon.

Crocodile and Mihawk from ST25 from One Piece Card Game.

Fill Your Board Quick

One of the biggest problems that Buggy had when it was released back in OP09 Emperors In The New World was being able to fill the board and keep it healthy in time for the big ten-cost Buggy to come down and be able to stick around.

With Crocodile & Mihawk, you’ll be able to cheat out an extra body, alongside some card draw to accompany the Cross Guild duo. This card quickly became a centerpiece for the deck, as it also offer a layer of protection from removal by simply trashing a card from your hand.

A Bit Creepy But Excellent Nonetheless

The lovingly known as the ‘Shoe Buggy’ is another reprint in the Buggy starter deck, but this one was even more needed. The original print of the card was only distributed at a Pre-Release event forOP10 Royal Blood.

This Buggy card is very similar to Crocodile & Mihawk, where it can help you fill your board quickly. The only downside is that this card prevents your smaller characters from attacking. There are very few instances where this will matter since you would rather verify that your 10-drop Buggy sticks instead of being able to attack with a searcher.

Kuzan from ST27 from One Piece Card Game.

3Kuzan

The Navy Defect

It seems like the Blackbeard deck just keeps getting new support when the deck is already as oppressive as it is. This new Kuzan gives the deck another blocker for your opponent to deal with, but that’s not the best effect of the card by far.

Whenever Kuzan is K.O.’ed, you’ll be able to play another Blackbeard Pirates card from your trash, rested. Even though the deck is incredible at cycling cards, one of its issues was being able to return some of the cards that you have trashed from the leader effect. This Kuzan fixes that problem.

Marshall.D.Teach from ST27 from One Piece Card Game.

2Marshall.D.Teach

Removal For The Best Stall Deck

There’s already a massive threat in the Blackbeard deck with the ten-cost Marshall.D.Teach, but now, with the seven-drop version of the emperor, the deck can remove a ton more targets on the board.

Similar to Jack from OP08 Two Legends, this card will give you the option to attack with a big power character or simply rest it to K.O. another character on the board. If your opponent finds a way to out this card, you can grab any other card from the trash at no cost. All aboard the value train!

Gum-Gum Mole Pistol from ST21 from One Piece Card Game.

1Gum-Gum Mole Pistol

Removal Events Are Red’s Specialty

The Gear 5 deck was not a part of the wave of reprint starter decks, but rather a more premium product in the shape of an Ultra Deck. The deck came equipped with tons of excellent red cards for rush-adjacent strategies, but one of the best in the set is a simple removal event card.

Everyone remembers the old Gum-Gum Jet Pistol, one of the first removal events in the game, but this Mole Pistol immediately power-creptthe OP01 card.
