Much like any other gacha game,Umamusume: Pretty Derbyconstantly gets new banners with each update, which features a higher rate of getting certain characters. Biwa Hayahide had one such banner during the early days of the game, and she was then added to the general pool of characters.
This essentially means that you can get her from your pulls randomly at any point, as long as you’re pulling on the Derby Scout banners. Once you get Biwa Hayahide, she can be a great unit to build for PvP in longer distances, but you have to keep a few things in mind.

If you want to use Biwa Hayahide in any PvP or other modes like Daily Races,you’ll first have to go through a three-year career run with her. Each month gets two turns in this career, with a total of 72 turns and an added six for the URA Championship. At the end of this run, you get a rating based on your overall stats and skills.
However, if you want to make a good Biwa, you’ll first have to decide on your target distance and style. In general, you’d want to build a character in the distance and stylewhere they have at least a B rating, but an A or above is always the best. This makes Medium and Long distances with Pace Chaser and Late Surger style the best for her.

Biwa’s unique skill, win Q.E.D., increases her speed when she crosses another runner on the final corner of the race. This can be phenomenal for both Pace Chaser and Late Surger, but itgoes particularly well with the former since you need to be towards the frontof the pack to trigger it, which might not be the case for Late Surgers at times.
However, another thing to keep in mind is that if you’re the onlyPace Chaser with just one Front Runner ahead of you, this skill gets a much lower chance to trigger. That’s generally not the case though, so you’ll get better impact from her unique skill as a Pace Chaser.

As a Pace Chaser for Medium and Long distances, Biwa Hayahide will require a lot of Stamina tokeep up with the Front Runner and some extra for the final boost to cross them. It’s the most important stat for her since if you don’t have enough Stamina on your build,all your Speed and Power will be useless.
Biwa’s base stats have the highest wit, but it’s closely followed by Stamina and Guts,which helps you get a good start on her best stat. Unfortunately, her growth rate is in Guts and Wit, with the latter being higher, which makes it crucial to have extra Stamina wherever you can. Once you have enough Stamina, you can start focusing on her Speed, which also upgrades your Power.
If you’re building Biwa as a Late Surger, a lot of your Stamina requirement goes downbut the Power and Guts requirement shoots up.
For this build, you’llneed around 600-700 Power and Guts each, and it’d be even better if you’re able to have more.
Wits is arguably one of the most overlooked yet the most important stats in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. This stat defines your chances of using your ability in a race. While you might not need a lot of Wit to trigger your skills in career mode,you’re competing with much higher Wit stats in regular PvP, and you won’t trigger any skills if you’re below 300.
It’s also important to mention that you won’t get these stats in the early game. It’snecessary to first build better legaciesand get some decent support cards for them.
Biwa Hayahide Legacy Recommendations
Talking about legacies, you can use up to two of these on your character before starting the career. As mentioned above, Stamina and Speed are your best friends for Biwa, which meansyou’ll mainly be aiming for these on your legacies. However, if you’re going for a Late Surger build, you first have to get an A rating on it with your legacies.
Next, you may try to go for somePower and Guts instead of Stamina, though Speed still remains a priority.
Biwa Hayahide Best Skills
Skills can be quite difficult to understand in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, but it gets much easier when yourealize that these skills are essentially just extra stats for your characters. When the conditions are met, these skills activate and essentially boost one of your stats for a bit of time. For example, skills that increase velocity give a boost to your Speed.
Each character has some specific skills that benefit them, andyou can get these from your support cards and other random events. Here are the best skills you may get on Biwa Hayahide:
Description
Homestretch Haste
This skill improves your speed on the final spurt of the race, which coincides well with her unique ability. Thespeed from this skill can help you pass another runner, which will activate your unique and push you further forward.
Pace Chaser Savvy
While this might be a green skill, it can give a significant boost to your Pace Chaser build byputting you in a better position, which reduces the chances of getting boxed in.
Preferred Positon
This ability can decrease your Stamina consumption in the middle of the race,preparing your Biwa for the final phasewhere she shines.
Straightaways
There are multiple Straightaway abilities in Umamusume: Pretty Derby that canincrease your Speed and Power on a straight. These are generally good for every character, including Biwa.
Corner Skills
Since Biwa’s unique skill activates on a corner, all thecorner abilities can work wellwith her including Stamina regeneration and Speed increase.
Pressure
This ability increases your velocity when you pass another runner in the late race,synergizing perfectly with her unique skill. You can get more value from it on your Late Surger build.
Biwa Hayahide Best Support Cards
While building Biwa Hayahide, you’d generally want athree Stamina, two Speed, and one Wit set of cards on her. However, if you’re building her as a Late Surger, you caninstead go for three Speed, two Guts, and one Wit. Here are some of the best support cards for her:

Stamina
This is generally the best Stamina support card you’re able to get in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, and it works specifically well with Biwa as it gives herabilities like Homestretch Haste and Ramp Up.
Mejiro McQueen (Your Team Ace)
This is another phenomenal card on her because of its high bonus from friendship training andgreat Pace Chaser and Long distance abilities. It also has some Stamina abilities for your run.
Tokai Teio (Dream Big!)
Speed
This card gives you a bunch of maneuverability (Guts) andother general Pace Chaser skills.
Kitasan Black (Fire at My Heels)
While this card already has some Corner and Long distance abilities for Biwa, it worksespecially well on any character due to its high specialty priorityat maximum limit break.
Fine Motion (Wave of Gratitude)
Wit
Finally, if you’re looking for a Wit card, you won’t get anything better than Fine Motion with itsabilities and high effects.
