When you first start playingElden Ring Nightreign, you won’t have access to every Expedition. You need to beat the ‘many-legged’ Tricepholos to unlock the other six, but even then, you’re not done. This is quite an expansive game, and there are some things you simply won’t be able to do right off the bat.
There’s a hidden eighth Expedition, the final Nightlord, whom you must conquer to see the ending. Getting to them is simple, but it’s a true test of patience and mastery of the game’s systems and encounters.
How To Unlock The Final Expedition
To unlock the final Expedition and face Heolstor, you have to beat four different Nightlords. It doesn’t matter who, as long as each victory is unique.
The Tricephalos counts as one, so you only need to complete three more expeditions.
You’ll get a cutscene after your fourth win, withthe Roundtable Hold changing in appearanceto mark that the Night Aspect is now available.
Easiest Bosses To Unlock The Night Aspect
After you beat Tricephalos and unlock the other six expeditions, you’re able to take on the Nightlords in whatever order you choose: you don’t need to go down the list sequentially.
So, if you want to make a beeline for the ending, you can focus on the easiest bosses. That being said, we found thatthe Gaping Jaw, Sentient Pest, and Augur, the first three expeditions after Tricephalos, were the best option anyway.
If you struggle with any of those three, however, Darkdrift Knight is a far easier fight than the Equilibrious Beast orFissure in the Fog.
Rewards For Beating The Final Boss
While playing as a Nightfarer, you can unlock Memory Fragments, which allow you toprogress Remembrances via the journal at the Roundtable Hold.
We aren’t entirely sure what triggers these, but beating Nightlords seems reliable.
These are personal questlines with unique rewards, such as new Relics and outfits. If youcomplete a Remembrance, when youbeat Heolstor as that Nightfarer, you will also get a character-specific cutscene.
