The incredible powers and feats of someanimecharacters are always in the conversation. However, characters without powers can be just as, if not more, compelling than those with special abilities. These characters rely on their intelligence, skills, and sheer willpower to overcome challenges.

It might be difficult to assume which character actually has powers, as even the most average strength feat in anime could be considered supernatural in real life. To keep things simple, we will assume that abnormal strength is not a special power, but something characters can achieve by training in a specific anime universe.

10L

Death Note

L from Death Note is a normal human with exponential intelligence. He started working as a detective early in his life. L continued solving cases one after another until he became the best detective in the world.

L is one of the very few people in the Death Note universe who was able to quickly determine Kira’s location and give him a serious challenge. Despite being rather strange, L is one of the most entertaining characters you will see in anime.

9Senku Ishigami

Dr. Stone

Senku might be thesmartest characteryou will encounter, at least when it comes to scientific knowledge. Senku awakens after every human in the Dr. Stone universe has been turned to stone. During the thousands of years it took Senku to wake up, he was counting every single second to keep track of time.

Senku can rebuild modern gadgets or vehicles in a stone world with no tools. From massive ships that travel across continents and weapons like modern guns, Senku can build anything from pure memory. Senku’s unwavering confidence in the power of science is fascinating to see.

8Mash Burnedead

Mashle: Magic And Muscles

Mash is born in a world where everyone has some sort of magical powers. The amount of magical power a person has is represented by the lines on their face. The more lines you have, the more powerful you are. However, Mash was born without a single line or any magical powers.

Despite this massive drawback, Mash managed to train his body and become strong. In fact, Mash becomes so ridiculously strong that most magic is negated by his sheer power. Mash almost feels like a gag character with the amount of strength he has.

7Mumen Rider

One-Punch Man

Mumen Rider is a C-class hero from One-Punch Man. He has the strength of a normal human, which often makes him the punching bag of monsters. However, Mumen Rider’s willpower is stronger than almost any hero in One-Punch Man.

Mumen Rider directly faced off against the Sea King, even after it had defeated several A and S-class heroes. He represents a true hero and what strength should be all about. Even when facing certain death, he never gives up and continues fighting.

6Mamoru Takamura

Hajime No Ippo

Takamura was a delinquent street fighter who liked to solve everything through violence. One day, coach Kamogava picked up Takamura and decided to teach himboxing. Takamura soon became the best boxer in the world. He also made many friends and became a caring individual, at least from the inside.

Takamura is certainly a selfish and rude individual on the surface, but it’s all part of what makes his character amazing. His antics with the other boxers are some of the most entertaining and funniest moments you will see in anime.

5Kaguya Shinomiya

Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War

Kaguya is not a strong fighter, nor does she have superhuman intelligence that makes her special. She is only a normal high school girl who is smart and good at her studies. It’s Kaguya’s personality and growth that make her one of the best characters with no powers.

Kaguya grew up in a controlling but rich household that treated her like an object. Because of this, she grew distant and cold from everyone until she joined the student council. Kaguya still has a lot of room for growth, but her antics and romance with Miyuki are some of the best things you will see.

4Thorfinn

Vinland Saga

Vinland Saga takes place in a brutal world of Vikings. In this world, Thorfinn had to watch his father die at the hands of another warrior. Ever since then, Thorfinn has dedicated his life torevenge, even going as far as to kill other people. After the target of his revenge dies, Thorfinn loses his reason for living.

After all of this, Thorfinn feels significant regret and sadness for all the people he killed. Eventually, Thorfinn decides to atone for his sins and become a true warrior like his father wanted. Thorfinn’s development and journey is one of the most masterfully written things you will see.

3Yor Forger

Spy X Family

Yor is an assassin in a modern world. While the Spy X Family certainly has superpowers, Yor seems to be a normal human with incredible speed and strength. She became an assassin to support herself and her brother when they were children.

Yor is also known as the Thorn Princess by the people in the underworld. It’s interesting to see the contrast between the innocent Yor who is around her family and the cold killer who can assassinate enemies of her nation. Of course, Yor doesn’t take jobs that require her to get rid of innocent people.

2Levi Ackermann

Attack On Titan

Levi is the strongest human in Attack on Titan. He can single-handedly kill a horde of Titans, making him feared by even the Titan shifters of Marley. He is part of the Ackermann family, which was a clan of people who guarded the king.

It’s arguable whether Ackermann blood is considered a power or not. Considering that othercharacters in the world of Attack on Titancan pull off similar feats to Levi, it’s safe to assume that Levi is also a normal human with additional speed and strength.

1Gintoki Sakata

Gintama

In a world of aliens and immortal beings, the humans of Gintama still don’t have any special powers. They are normal samurai who happen to have unbelievable strength that allows them to fight off the aliens. Gintoki is most likely the strongest human in Gintama.

He fights with a wooden sword throughout the entire anime, only changing to a real sword when a serious threat arrives. However, the great thing about Gintoki isn’t his strength but his amazing character. He is by far one of the funniest and most fascinating characters.
