Quick Links
Len’s Islandmay seem like a cozy crafting game with farming and exploration. However, it may catch you off guard with some mechanics that pose a challenge, especially in higher difficulties. There is a lot to manage to make sure you don’t run out of resources when you need them.
There is a good chunk of combat and exploring dungeons in the game, which also requires you to prepare well beforehand. By focusing on the correct skills and upgrades, you’re able to make your gameplay a lot easier after employing some basic strategies.
Prefer Wood-Building Over Other Materials
Wood is an easier resource to farmquickly, especially as the entire world is loaded with trees. You can chop them down to geta yield of around six to sevenpieces. So you should prefer using it to build structures over any other material. You do need a lot of wood, especially during the early-game.
As you explore mines, you will be asked torepair structures with wood to go further inside. Many blueprints obtained at the startalso require wood, such as the Bed, Workbench, Campfire, and Baitbox.
Build Smaller Houses
The house you make at the beginning is not your permanent home, so do not invest many resources in building it. You only need toset up two Wooden Foundation squaresto have enough space to place some basic facilities inside.
Before you head into dangerous places, you can make avery small house with only one Foundation block, to place a bedinside. You can set it as your spawn point, so you don’t have to walk all the way again, considering how slow your walking speed is at the start.
Get The Farmer’s Gear
A major source of your income will be farming, and you can do that bypurchasing seeds from the Steph in Bridgewater Town. Seeds cost Gold, but purchasing the Farmer’s Gear, you won’t need to buy many.
These are easily missed as you may ignore it as some decoration, but near the table in the shop, you will find them available for purchase. By getting both theFarmer’s Hat and Famer’s Bandana, you can increase your chances of getting some seedsback while harvesting.
Recycle Old Buildings
A convenient mechanic in the game isrecycling everything you build to get your resources back. If you plan to wish to upgrade your houses and use better materials to build them, you’re able to get everything you spent on it.
You will beplacing structures in the mines as well to traverse aroundand reach new areas. Once you are done exploring, make sure to get it all back, especially when you don’t need to go there anymore.
Always carry some wood before you head into the mines. If you have a limited amount, you may continue to recycle and build as you go further.
Always Keep Some Blueberries
Exploring the world in Len’s Island is definitely not cozy, as you will need to combatcontinuous hunger drain. If you run out of food, you will be afflicted with starvation, which depletes your HP till you replenish yourself.
To prevent it,collect Blueberries whenever you see themin the open world. It is a free food source which you will get before you start farming. It doesn’t replenish your health, butfills up your Hunger. You can get a decent yield from every Blueberry bush you see, enough to explore uninterrupted.
Eventually, you can start fishing and hunting to obtain meat, which restores your health significantly.
Clear Dungeons Quickly
Dungeons are loaded with enemies, and to complete them, you will also need todefeat a certain number of enemies near the end. The more you stall, the harder it’s going to get, as you will alsorun out of resources eventually.
Youdon’t have to engage with every single enemyin the dungeon. Ignore the larger enemies if you are not strong enough to beat them. We recommend defeating smaller enemies more to level up quickly.
You should also wear armor to reduce the damage received from enemies.
Do Not Sell Extra Crafting Materials
During the early-game, there are fewer ways to earn Gold, so you will betempted to sell the materialsyou worked so hard to gather. We recommend refraining from that, unless you really need to.
You will find yourselfcompletely unprepared when you really need them, and it will get annoying to farm it all over again. Imagine being stuck in a scuffle, but you sold all your resources that could save you.
The Notice Board in the town is very missable, and to upgrade towns, you will need resources as well to unlock new features.
Focus On Combat Skills First
In the Skills menu, there are different types of skills, which will make your gameplay less tedious. We recommendunlocking the combat skills firstif you want to stand a chance against tough adversaries.
You don’t need to unlock farming and crafting skills, especially during the early game, as even if it’s a bit less convenient, at least you may get things done. Your tools areformidable enough to handle these basic tasks.
