Beast Of Reincarnation Revealed At Xbox Showcase, Coming 2026

For many of us, seeing Game Freak’s logo pop up in anXboxShowcase was a strange surprise, especially for those who grew up with the Pokemon franchise.

The game shown off is set in a post-apocalyptic future, more than 2,000 years from now, filled with monstrous beings and robot-like creatures. Players will play as “Emma the Sealer”, seemingly teaming up with a wolf companion as they wield a samurai sword, as “humanity awaits its inevitable extinction”.

The game evoked feelings similar to those of Koei Tecmo’sWild Hearts, in which players hunt massive monsters in Azuma, a world inspired by feudal Japan.

The world premiere trailer revealed, “Long ago, a great creature appeared in this land. The beast spewed forth blight, corrupting all living things.” And the game’s publisher, Fictions, added, “Survive a journey across an ominous, ever-changing world where dangerous forests can erupt in the wasteland. As Emma and Koo push deeper into the unknown, their bond strengthens—and with it, strange powers bloom. Explore what it means to be human in Beast of Reincarnation, an expansive one-person, one-dog action RPG built around demanding, technical combat.”

Although best known for the Pokemon series, Game Freak has a catalogue of other titles it has developed and published, including Pandoland, Drill Dozer, Giga Wrecker Alt, and Tembo the Badass Elephant. It will be the company’s first title on Xbox since 2019’s Little Town Hero.

With Xbox announcinga new handheld console, Game Freak’s next game will be playable portably, much like thePokemonseries. It will launch on Xbox and Xbox Game Pass in 2026.
