In case you missed it, the nextBattlefieldgame, which many are unofficially callingBattlefield 6, will have a campaign. That much was revealedduring the game’s five-minute introduction back in February. There,it was announced that Criterion would be handling the campaign, which means the Need for Speed series will effectively be put on ice.
In the time since Battlefield 6’s reveal,a ton of multiplayer content has managed to leak online, courtesy of theover 1.3 million people who signed up for Battlefield Labs, the community playtesting program. So much so thatdevelopers asked fans to stop the rampant sharing of unrevealed info.
That leaking hasn’t stopped, and now, courtesy of a dataminer, we have our first look at the game’s campaign.
Spoiler: The Battlefield 6 Campaign Will Have Explosions
As first shared on Twitter by temporyal, a one-minute-long clip showcases the finale of a mission that is taking place in Tajikistan, which, if it makes the cut to the final product, will involve destroying a dam and driving away, you know, typical Battlefield stuff.
The footage is obviously rough as it is a work-in-progress, and there is no audio, but it does show the potential for the game’s single-player offering. Not only did the dataminer provide a first-look at the campaign, they also shared that the game will have a prologue, plus eight additional missions that will take place in Egypt, the USA and Gibraltar.
While much of the campaign’s story has been largely kept under wraps,a recent interview revealed that the team is taking cues from Alex Garland’s Civil War movie, as well as the Dead Space remake. With Civil War, the team is creating a narrative involving “talented but ordinary people put in extraordinary situations,” while Dead Space has given them a blueprint for balancing tension.
