It’s finally been confirmed thatBattlefield 6is launching later this year, getting its first trailer earlier this monthand a new release date reveal of October 10. We know that the most important part of a Battlefield game is the multiplayer though, and EA and DICE decided to give the mode its own showcase today, giving us a detailed look at some gameplay being streamed by a variety of content creators.

DICE dove right into all the features we can expect to see in the game, such as the return of the class system. In Battlefield 6, you’ll be able to play as Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes, each one with its own exclusive weapons sets and gadgets that you’ll be able to take out onto the field.

Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Reveal Event Shows Off New Maps, Modes, And Destruction

For example, the Assault class hs extra mobility, can carry an extra primary weapon, and uses some of the more hard-hitting weaponry like grenade launchers. Engineers have weapons all about taking down enemy vehicles, such as rockets and mines, whilst also having the only way to fix ally vehicles.

Support is all about providing… support for your teammates, as you’ll be able to drag people out of danger and resurrect them, as well as deploy cover to shoot from. Finally, Recon is your sniper class, which has access to powerful rifles and drones that let you pinpoint enemy positions.

Next, DICE went into the game’s all-important destruction mechanics, revealing that a new system called Tactical Destruction is included in Battlefield 6. We see plenty of examples of the destruction at work, as players can use C4s, rocket launchers, and even sledgehammers to break down walls and floors. It seems to be super granular this time around, allowing you to approach fights with more options.

DICE then gave us a look at the game’s maps and modes, revealing that there will be nine maps in total at launch, one of which is a remake of the popular Operation Firestorm map from Battlefield 3. Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush are your three “all-out warfare” modes that are playable, while classic modes like Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, King of the Hill are included too, as well as a new mode called Escalation.

And if that wasn’t enough, Battlefield 6 has also massively upgraded the portal, as DICE reveals a fancy editing mode is included this time around which will let players make even more detailed creations. A new Verified Mode will also be rolled out, which will allow players to set up “hardcore rulesets” for their creations, such as one-shot kills.

Finally, DICE drops a real bombshell, revealing that we’ll actually be able to play Battlefield 6 for ourselves real soon. On the weekends of August 9 to 10 and August 14 to 17, Battlefield 6 will have an open beta letting you check out everthing that has been showcased today.
