Battlefield 6is real, andafter a first-look trailerearlier in the month,Electronic Artsblew the lid right off the whole thingwith a multiplayer reveal, where it was revealed that the gamewould be launching October 10.
After arguablymultiple misses with Battlefield 5 and 2042, the series looks to return to its roots with a modern military setting, along with a campaign that is reportedly inspired by some recent major movies. There’s also evidenceit’ll stray away from other shooters in its genre (namely Call of Duty) by not offering crossover or collaboration skins in multiplayer.
If all that wasn’t enough to win back fans, then EA also wants them to know that it’s taking cues from some of the most beloved Battlefield titles in history … Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4.
With Battlefield 6, EA Seems To Recognize What Fans Have Been Clamoring For
In a new interview with GamesRadar, Christian Grass, vice president and executive producer at Ripple Effect, one of the four studios that make up Battlefield Studios, shared that Battlefield 6 is more than just a return to some familiar roots.
“We have the inspiration from BF3 and BF4,” Grass said. “We wanted to go modern. We haven’t been modern for a long time, so that is kind of part of it.”
Grass further acknowledged the place Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 have in the larger franchise, saying, “It’s sort of, you know, the pinnacle, maybe, of Battlefield – that’s debatable.
“So that’s kind of where it started, right? We wanted to go modern. We hadn’t been modern for a long time. We wanted to create, Tompen (Thomas Andersson, creative director of Battlefield) calls it, ‘the spiritual successor to Battlefield 3 and 4.'”
You’d be hard-pressed to find a fan who doesn’t agree with those statements, making the prospect of Battlefield 6 all the more exciting to them. Ultimately, whether EA sticks the landing is still up in the air, but it seems there is every intention to truly win back the fans.
