In a game full of memorable characters, Orin still stands out inBaldur’s Gate 3. As the Chosen of Bhaal, she’s one of the three main antagonists that you have to take down, and she’s almost definitely the most off-putting. She wears an outfit made of flesh, shekeeps her mother’s rotting corpse in her room, and she can even kill one of your party members, just to get to you.

So, it’s no surprise to hear that a lot of thought went into how she talks about her favourite hobby - murdering in the name of Bhaal. Adrienne Law, a senior writer atLarian, has now shed some light on how she brought Orin to life, and it involves a notebook page full of incredibly gruesome and visceral language.

Here’s A List Of Words That Orin Can Use To Describe Mercilessly Killing People In Baldur’s Gate 3

As you can see in the post from Larian, Law wrote down a full list of words that are very… Orin-y. This makes a lot of sense, since Orin sees an artistry in killing that others in the world - including other Bhaal worshippers - do not appreciate, so she would put a lot of thought into how she discusses the act of murder.

Law went into more detail about this during the Baldur’s Gate 3 team’splaythrough of the game.

“I have the most deranged notebook at home,” Law says. “I was writing scenes for her, and I just felt like I was repeating all of the fleshy words a bit, so I’ll just write all of the words down that I can think of that are terrible.”

Better yet, Law remembers working on this list on the train, so let’s hope no one looked over. During this process, she also had to rule out words that Orinwouldn’tuse, like eviscerate. As the writer puts it, “That’s a lot of syllables when you could just say gut.”

There you have it, fanfic writers: a list of words Orin would canonically use to describe killing her victims. Just be careful duringher boss fight, lest you become one of them.
