Once youget your party levelled upa bit inBaldur’s Gate 3, you can thin herds with Lae’zel’s multiple attacks, clear rooms withGale’s fireball, or simply yeet enemies aside as a giant Karlach. EvenShadowheart will stop missing attacksas often. While your group of companions will become some of the strongest beings in the land, there’s one NPC who will give even the most overlevelled party a run for their money.

Should you or any of your companions decide to become a paladin, you’ll have to keep one of several oaths. Should you break that oath, you’ll have to contend with none other than the Oathbreaker Knight. This terrifying character decked out in armour is tough to beat, but if you play your cards right, he may just become your camp’s protector.

The Oathbreaker Knight Will Fight For You

Unfortunately, you can’t take him along on your adventures, but the Oathbreaker Knight will defend himself when attacked, either by you or any other enemies. As noted by Redditor, whateverasf, when Cazador’s vampire spawn come to your camp in search of Astarion, he’ll draw swords with you and wipe out the spawn before you even get a chance.

“Honestly, I’ve done 4 run throughs and I’m still finding new things. I made Lae’zel a paladin and then made her break her oath,” they said. “That night the Oathbreaker Knight shows up in my camp but so did the vampire spawn trying to take Astarion. So I’m all ready to fight them when the Oathbreaker Knight is like no and just obliterates them. Seriously that thing did like 90 damage in one hit, it is strong. After about 400 hours of gameplay I did not know this would happen.”

Not many players would have seen this interaction, because it requires the Oathbreaker Knight and the vampire spawn to show up on the same night. “Wow. I have never seen that before. I am running a broken oath right now. I wonder if he’ll do the same when they come,” said one comment. To which another player replied, “It sounds like he just happened to show up on the same night for this guy.”

However, it seems he can turn on you without being provoked, as another comment pointed out, “In honour mode he can turn hostile with the rest of the camp if you"re caught stealing from Withers.”
