Summary

Whether you like it or not, Larian has moved on fromBaldur’s Gate 3. The studio had revealed thatPatch 8would be thefinal big update that the game would be getting, and that anything else would just be maintenance. So it looks likeyou’re not going to get that Raphael romanceoption you were hoping for.

Patch 8 did give us a lot to play around with – a photo mode and 12 new subclasses; as if we needed another reason to replay the game. The studio has also officially moved on to other projects, and none of them are Baldur’s Gate 4. While a lot of us are sad about this, Lae’zel actor Devora Wilde thinks it’s the right move for the studio.

Speaking on the ReadyAimFire podcast, Wilde thinks Larian made the right move by moving on to its next game. While everyone would love for Baldur’s Gate 3 to get a DLC or more content, the studio has already given us so much, and we can’t wait for its next game.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” she said when asked about the future of the series (thanks,VideoGamer). “The only thing I know is what everyone else knows—Larian, I think, have said they won’t be doing any more Baldur’s Gate, that’s what I know. They’ve announced that publicly. Whether somebody else is gonna do it, who knows? Who knows.”

“I think, in many ways, it’s a very smart decision,” she continued. “They’ve made something so, so special and so incredible and so unique and literally once-in-a-lifetime that it would be so exciting now for people to see them do something else. And probably smash it because they’re amazing at everything they do.”

While our hopes for more Baldur’s Gate 3 content have been dashed, Wilde sure does make a good point about the studio’s future projects. If they managed to create this masterpiece with the restrictions that Hasbro set, just imagine what the studio could do while working on its own IP.
