Baldur’s Gate 3almost definitely a contender for the best game with the thirstiest fanbase,rivaled perhaps only by Stellar Blade, and you only need to look at the game’s main cast to understand why. Whether it be Astarion, Shadowheart, Wyll, or even Jaheira, you’ll find a legion of gamers down bad for their favorite character, and this is especially true when it comes to Karlach.
She’s pretty smoking (both figuratively and literally), her upbeat and positive attitude makes her instantly likable, and she is also very large, a quality I’m quite surprised a lot of people go absolutely feral over. Understandably, that makes Karlach prime material for some slightly inappropriate fanfics, of which there are quite literally thousands.

It’s definitely an interesting position to be in if you’re the actor behind Karlach, and Samantha Beart is apparently very aware of just how many people are smitten by her fiery Tiefling.In an interview with PCGamer, Beart was apparently asked what it’s like to interact with such a ravenously thirsty fanbase, claiming that people will “confess” to her at conventions about the decisions they make.
She’s also fully aware of all the “filthy” stories about her character on sites like Archive of Our Own (AO3), but insists that she doesn’t actually read any of them. To be honest, if there were thousands of raunchy fanfics of a character I love and voiced, I’ll probably avoid places like that too.

Larian itself hasn’t exactly done much to try and curtail the Karlach thirst either,as the game’s final animated shorthad the Tiefling sunbathing while cooking a couple of burger patties and a sausage on her abs, all of which are very suspiciously positioned. In fact,some Karlach thirsting even got one fan hired by Larian, so don’t let anyone tell you your unhealthy obsessions with fictional video game characters will never get you anywhere in life.
