Baldur’s Gate 3isn’t a direct sequel toBaldur’s Gate 2, but we still see the odd familiar face. One of these isJaheira, who is still part of the Harpers, even if she’s had a rather turbulent relationship with the faction.
As some players are only just discovering, Baldur’s Gate 3 actually does let you join the Harpers yourself, but there’s a good chance you missed it. You join during theepilogue camp, but for some reason, Jaheira isn’t keen on extending the invitation if you’ve hooked up with someone. That’s right - no romances.
Yes, You Can Become A Harper In Baldur’s Gate 3
This has been part of the game since the epilogue camp was added a few months after Baldur’s Gate 3’s launch. However, since the prerequisites to get the conversation to take place are quite specific, some players are only finding out about this for the first time now, as someone shares their Dark Urge’s ending on Reddit.
As you can see in their screenshots, Jaheira tells the Dark Urge character that they have earned a place in the Harpers and presents them with their pin. The dialogue here is unique to playing as The Dark Urge, but any character can become a Harper, including custom characters.
A few players in the comments are surprised that they’ve never had this option before, but that’s likely because their character walked into the epilogue camp alongside their romance partner. To trigger this, you need to have either romanced no one throughout the course of the game, broken up with them by the end, or gotten them killed. Yes, that last one really does work. When I tested out the ending where Karlach accepts her death, my heartbroken Tav got an invite to join the Harpers for her troubles. It wasn’t quite battling through Avernus with her tall girlfriend, but it was something.
Naturally, you’ll also have to haverecruited Jaheiraand have kept her around by the end of the game. This also meanssaving Minsc once you get into Baldur’s Gate, andnotgiving in to your Dark Urge if you’re playing through that storyline.
There are a few other changes to the epilogue camp if you turn up without a partner. You get some generic dialogue options to choose from when your old companions ask what you’ve been up to. You can even say that you’re now in a relationship. I guess they go to another school. And for some reason, this mystery partner is cooler about you joining the Harpers than any of the companions are.
