While there’s an entire three acts to explore and a giant brain to kill, most of the fun inBaldur’s Gate 3occurs at camp. I’m not only talking about the romance scenes, although those are great too, I’m talking about the scenes where you get to know your companions and even watch them interact with each other.

Their tents are also designed based on their personalities, telling you even more about your beloved party. Lae’zel has a grindstone for her weapons, Karlach has a teddy bear in her tent, and other characters also have such items strewn around. However, you may have noticed something rather out of place in the tent belonging to our favourite sassy vampire, Astarion.

Why Does Astarion’s Tent Have A Mirror?

As pointed out byHikkichon Reddit, if you look over to Astarion’s tent at camp, you’ll notice that there’s a mirror placed on the table. Since Astarion is a vampire, and has no reflection, what in Faerun is he doing with a mirror? The comments section was filled with some hilarious and even heartbreaking reasons.

Firstly, one player said it’s because “Vanity never dies, darling.” I bet you heard that in Astarion’s voice, as it sounds like something he would say. It seems completely in character for him to just keep the mirror around because he thinks he’s a sight for sore eyes. To be fair, we absolutely agree with that.

Others pointed out that since he’s a rogue, he uses the mirror to see if anyone’s trying to sneak up on him. This clearly didn’t work with Mizora, Orin, or the vampire spawn, so maybe Astarion needs to figure out a better way of watching his back. Maybe train Scratch to be a proper watchdog?

Maybe he’s using it to spy on the rest of the party, so he can have a quick snack while everyone’s asleep. However, the most probable and heartbreaking answer is “hope”. He hopes that one day he’ll be able to see his own reflection and remember what a dashing fellow he is. Unfortunately, he’s just going to have to take my word for it until such a time.
