Baldur’s Gate 3companions say the darndest things. Whether it’s unsolicited advice, disapproving after you save a child, a terrible joke, or some nonsense about whichever deity they follow, the gang has a lot of opinions. Of course, some of them are chattier than others, but they all love to hear the sound of their own voices.
However, it seems there’s one particular companion who brings down the whole group. WhileShadowheart is arguably everyone’s favourite companion and romancein Baldur’s Gate 3, she can get a bit annoying in the first half of the game. With subtle racism and unsubtle devotion to Sharr, she’s definitely a mood killer at times. Evenher own voice actor wasn’t a fan at first.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Think The Game Is More Chill Without Shadowheart
It’s just not about how much she talks, but even what she says. A lot of players are now realising that not having her in the party is quite refreshing – of course,this is only after they’ve had a couple of playthroughs. As pointed out byClintMcElroyOfficialon Reddit, “act 2 without Shadowheart’s input was awesome.”
They explained that a series of events led to their Dark Urge killing Shadowheart, and it was a “refreshing change of pace.” They explained, “as much as I miss Shadowheart, I kinda dread future playthrough’s where I have to hear Shar this and Dark Lady that all throughout act 2. Even if her Act 3 redemption makes it worth it. Hell I might kill off other party members next time just to see how things change.”
ClintMcElroyOfficial wasn’t the only one who felt this way, as the comments section also noted that Shadowheart’s absence resulted in less negativity overall. “Gotta be honest, I did the same last run, and it was really chill. I’m doing this run “forgetting” to go collect Lae’zel, just for some different experiences, but I already miss her,” noted one player.
“I once killed her going to the Shadowfell but did not bother to do the trials, so she turned against me. I honestly did not miss her one bit in Act 3,” added another. Another comment had some really strong words about her – “Shart [Shadowheart] fans can be just as obnoxious as Shart if not more, like I don’t hate Shart, she’s definitely not on my fav character list, she’s fine, but her fans here would tell you without her BG3 is basically a 3/10 game.”
