Baldur’s Gate 3gives you a whole lot of freedom, and that includes the freedom to make your own mistakes. That’s what one player discovered the hard way, when they managed to getLae’zelpermanently killed, to the point where the game won’t even let them resurrect her.

This is possiblein Act 1, but far enough into the game to be annoying. As discovered by Reddit user benjaminrogers91, it can happen when Lae’zel temporarily leaves your party to rush ahead and speak with other Githyanki that you come across. If you take this opportunity to go back to camp, it seems like the talk doesn’t go very well at all, as the player came across her dead body.

Lae’zel Can Be Permanently Lost As A Party Member If You Make This Mistake In Act 1

“Apparently when Lae’zel rushes off to talk to the githyanki after the red dragon massacring the Flaming Fists at the bridge cutscene, if you then quickly go to camp to grab a fourth party member to help with the fight after, SHE DIES,” says benjaminrogers91. “And since she’s not a part of your party for those couple minutes I guess you’re able to’t bring her back either.”

As others highlight in the replies, the game expects you to immediately rush in after her. Don’t worry about being down a party member for the fight, because as long as you play your cards right, she will be on your side - or you could avoid the fight entirely.

This isn’t even the only way you can lose Lae’zel for good in Act 1, far from it. You can just not come across her on the map, although she is pretty hard to miss. Even then, you’re given a few more opportunities to run into her, but if you avoid them all, she’s gone for good. Then, there’s her fight with Shadowheart. If you don’t play your cards right, then Shadowheart will kill her, once again making her impossible to revive.

All in all, it’s great to still be finding these discoveriestwo years after the game launched, even if it’s a path that most of us will want to avoid. Basically, just trust Lae’zel and do as she says, which is good advice in general.
