They say some people just want to watch the world burn and that has never been more true than in theBaldur’s Gate 3modding community. A new mod has just been released that removes the ability to reroll your dice in Honour Mode to force players to “roll” with consequences.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is already a challenging game, particularly on tactician and honour mode, where enemies are more aggressive and have new actions and abilities, butfans of the game continue to strive for new challenges (and suffering). Larian Studios shipped the game with Tactician Mode, but hardcore players were disappointed, calling it too easy.
Heeding the call,Larian added Honour Mode three months later in Patch 5, which removes the ability to make multiple saves or reload an old one. When you die on Honour Mode, you must start over, but players who complete the entire story are rewarded with shiny golden dice. That reward is about to get a lot harder to acquire.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Player Makes Honour Mode Even More Difficult
As If It Wasn’t Tricky Enough Already
As if Baldur’s Gate 3 wasn’t hard enough,a prolific modder named Yoonmoonsick created “No Second Chances”, a mod that is “designed for players seeking true tension and consequence in every decision”. This challenging addition to the ever-growing mod collection is available on Nexus Mods but not yet in the in-game mod manager.
As found by VideoGamer, “No Second Chances” does exactly what it sounds like by removing the ability to reroll your dice using the inspiration points you get for selecting dialogue choices that align with your characters’ backgrounds.
If you’ve tried an Honour Mode run, you know how game-saving a reroll can be at the right time and how quickly a run can turn with a bad roll (I’m so sorry I failed you, Shadowheart). The golden rule in Honour Mode is “never select a dialogue choice if you don’t know the result”, and that was particularly true when I accidentally lost Wyll and Karlach during one run where I answered Minthara wrong regarding the grove druids.
Baldur’s Gate 3 players are, of course, no strangers to difficulty mods. Many mods have been created tomake boss fights harder, add extra encounters, and even force the characters down to 1 HP in the infamous (and now-unlisted) “Impossible Challenge” mod.
This mod seems less extreme than some of the other difficulty mods (looking at you +100 percent enemy HP mod), but it feels like a perfect fit for players looking to remove the reroll temptation and moderately increase the challenge is a lore-friendly way. This mod fits perfectly with the spirit of honour mode and makes every choice permanent.
