Baldur’s Gate 3has aridiculous amount of spells and abilities, so much so that you’re bound to forget about some of the tricks you have up your sleeve. One that many of us forget after we unlock it isMage Hand, a low-level cantrip accessible to a bunch of different classes.

It’s a cool little novelty at first, as you summon a hand that you can command and get to interact with objects or the world around you. But it’s a bit crap in a fight, so you probably don’t end up casting it much at all once better cantrips and spells are at your disposal.

That’s not to say it’s useless, however. As Reddit user stalwart-bulwark discovered, it’s actually far more effective than we’re led to believe, because it can effortlessly get past traps, and even reach places that party members can’t.

This Is How You Should Be Using Mage Hand In Baldur’s Gate 3

Stalwart-bulwark does this as anArcane Trickster - a Rogue subclass- but you can also pick it up if you’re a Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard, or part of the Warrior subclass, Eldritch Knight. As you can see in the video, the Mage Hand hovers above the traps that you’d normally have to painstakingly get your whole party to evade, or disarm if you’re skilled/lucky enough.

Better yet, the Mage Hand is then able to simply fly through the gate and then unlock it for everyone else on the other side. So, when you’re presented with a puzzle like this, it’s definitely worth seeing if the Mage Hand can get you out of the pinch. It could save you a lot of time and some injuries.

If you love how many solutions Baldur’s Gate 3 throws at you, then you are in luck. Wizards of the Coast has said thatit will create CRPGs that are “as serious” as Baldur’s Gate 3, so any future games based onDungeons & Dragonsshouldn’t tone things down too much.
