Summary

WhenBaldur’s Gate 3launched, every class had three subclasses, but this wasupped to four with the final patch. However, if you’re playing as a paladin, you’re still fairly limited in how much evil you can get away with. The latest subclass, Oath of the Crown, allows you to be a bit of an ass as long as you’re honest, but otherwise, you’re mainly focused on bringing your own brand of justice to Faerûn.

So, if you want to spread something a lot less virtuous around the world, this new Baldur’s Gate 3 mod has you covered. The Oath of Pestilencefrom Nexus Mods user havsglimt is just as charming as it sounds, tasking you with spreading corruption and plague wherever you walk.

Oath Of Pestilence Homebrew Subclass Added To Baldur’s Gate 3

“Clad in grime-soaked armor and wielding rusting weapons, the oath of pestilence paladin spreads corruption, disease, and filth,” reads the description of the subclass. “Bound by an oath which infests their bodies with all manner of plagues, these heralds of decay lumber forward with unholy toughness and grim resolve.”

This isn’t just a cosmetic mod - although you do get some very sickly starting armour - because the subclass comes with a whole host of unique spells and abilities. With names such as miasmic tumours, aura of rampant sickness, and plaguebringer, you can imagine just how much the people of Faerûn will love you. Don’t be too surprised if everyone sets up their tent a little further away from you, yeah?

The Oath of Pestilence is a subclass in the Grim Hollow setting forDungeons & Dragons, courtesy of Ghostfire Gaming. This mod works by adding its features to Baldur’s Gate 3’s gameplay, and thus making it playable within the Forgotten Realms. It doesn’t seem that there are any roleplaying oaths you have to follow, or risk being made an oathbreaker, but you’ll certainly be one of the cruellest paladins around. And if that isn’t enough for you, you’re able to always check outthe Oath of the Hells subclass.
