I’ve beatenBaldur’s Gate 3twice, and I’m now on my third run. I couldn’t really remember the Last Light Inn battle, so part of me thought you were all exaggerating when youcomplained about Isobel’s AI. Oh, how wrong I was. She really ishellbent on getting herself kidnapped or killed, huh?

Another unfortunate soul just found this out the hard way… and on an Honour Mode run. This means that, unlike me, they couldn’t reload a save and defeat all of the enemies before Isobel had a chance to throw herself in danger. Worse yet, the trouble didn’t end there, as dodgy AI tactics claimed more souls, and even a companion.

If You’re Playing Baldur’s Gate 3 On Honour Mode, You Need To Protect Isobel From Herself

As documented by Reddit user AdvancedPerformer838, a whole lot of characters were just killed off during their Honour Mode run, thanks to Isobel’s actions

“I kill Marcus and all the other Winged Horror on the top floor on turn one. Was very confident,” says AdvancedPerformer838. “The rest of the Winged Horrors all fly besides Isobel and take a couple of hits on her. Then, surrounded by 4 of them, she decides to move and provokes several opportunity attacks, getting herself killed on turn 1.”

From the sounds of it, there really isn’t much they could have done in this scenario. Sure, you can take out a few Winged Horrors on your party’s first turn, but Marcus can still easily nab Isobel himself, so taking him out as fast as possible isn’t a bad strategy. Plus, Isobelreallycould have gotten herself out of that situation. By using disengage, she could walk past all of them without provoking an opportunity attack. Or, she could simply remain where she is and attack/heal from there.

Alas, their misfortune didn’t end there. If Isobel is killed or knocked out and taken away, then Last Light Inn loses its protection from the shadow curse. Everyone inside, save your party and Jaheira, becomes infected, leaving you to fight them. However,Jaheira’s AI is also less than spectacularbefore you recruit her as a permanent companion, so of course, she ran off to her death as well.

For those of you keeping count, this means that this player has lost a whole bunch of NPCs, like Alfira and Dammon, and two companions, since Jaheira is gone, and needs to be a companion to recruit Minsc later on. Also, if Karlach’s heart hadn’t been upgraded first, then her quest is impossible to complete, and her romance impossible to progress. Frankly, I cannot imagine a worse fate than that. I’d be hoping the Honour Mode run comes to an end.
