With a game as massive asBaldur’s Gate 3, you’re bound to run into some bugs now and then. Despite Larian officially moving on to its next project, the studio said that it will still be performing maintenance updates when and if needed. Only a few days ago, one of these updates dropped, and Larian hoped that it might fix one of the game’s most hilarious glitches.
While it isn’t game-breaking in any way, the bug involved the character portraits of some characters getting misaligned, resulting in a rather funny image of them. The July 31 patch “finally tackles the slightly ominous character portraits”, said thepatch notes, but it seems players are still experiencing it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Latest Patch Does Not Fix Misaligned Character Portraits
To be fair, Larian has tried to fix this issue before, but to no avail. In fact, the devs weren’t even sure if it would be fixed this time, based on the wording of the patch notes. “Fixed, probably this time really maybe, the weird character portraits.” Unfortunately, it seems they were right to doubt themselves.
As showcased byEquivalent_Lab_2510, it seems that Larian’s efforts have been in vain, as the issue is still occurring for some people. While it usually affects the portrait of Shadowheart, this instance revealedLae’zel’s model being off-centre in her character portrait. But it seems Baldur’s Gate 3 players don’t really mind, as it’s quite funny and doesn’t really affect gameplay in any way.
Perhaps the Divinity Engine works in mysterious ways, whereby the bug cannot be removed, but simply passed onto another character, in this case Lae’zel. You can be sure the two are probably going to get into a scrap at the camp again over this. While the bug itself is funny, what’s funnier is that Larian just cannot figure it out even thoughthe game has been out for over two years now.
At this point, Larian should just leave it in as a nod to all the memes we’ve seen about it. Even better, the studio’s next game should have a misaligned portrait as a nod to this hilarious bug.
