Assassin’s Creed Shadows' titleupdate 1.0.6is scheduled to release tomorrow, June 25, and features an unlikely collaboration between Ubisoft and Critical Role.
A one-shot typically refers to a tabletop RPG mini-story that is resolved in a single session of play.
Critical Success
The update adds a new quest, entitled A Critical Encounter, to Shadows, featuring Robbie Daymond’s character Rufino from the one-shot session.
“Rufino, an old friend of Tomiko and Heiji, calls in a life debt after uncovering a deadly conspiracy. While working as a translator, he discovered evidence that a secretive organisation has been hiring assassins to eliminate influential commoners. Now, he turns to Naoe and Yasuke for help in stopping these killers,” reads the quest description.
This quest can be played any time after unlocking Yasuke as a playable character, and can be started in the Hideout. You’ll be rewarded with an achievement/trophy and a Critical Role banner for the Hideout upon completion of the quest. The collaboration also features a Critical Role weapon pack that can be purchased in the in-game store, which contains two weapons for each character.
Also coming in the patch is a new ‘Nightmare’ difficulty setting, the game’s new hardest difficulty. This mode will make enemies stronger, more attentive and make combat resources scarcer.
A highly requested feature to toggle headwear in cutscenes is also coming, as are specific visual effects settings so you can fine-tune the appearance of Shadows.
An open-world alarm system has been added, which extends beyond castles and into provinces. If you cause trouble in a village, then a group of guardians may pursue you through the hinterlands.
Finally, there are new camera angles that can be switched through while riding on horseback, and an ‘Ultra Low’ video preset has been added for low-end PCs.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows' newest patch goes live tomorrow at 2 PM UTC / 10 AM EDT / 7 AM PT.
