A few days ago we learnt thatNetflix has finally green-flagged the Assassin’s Creed TV serieswhich was initially reported around five years ago. As you can imagine, fans started to speculate if it will be an original plot or based on one of the many games in the series. From the founding of the Creed in Origins, to Ezio’s trilogy, and even Connor during the American war of Independence,Netflixhas plenty of source material to choose from.
However, it seems one fan has theorized that the upcoming TV series will be based on one of the more recent characters from theAssassin’s Creedmythos. Based on old Tweets, industry business developments, and even other TV shows, they have surmised that the series will follow Basim Ibn Ishaq after the events ofAssassin’s Creed Mirage.
“As many of you already know, Netflix and Ubisoft have officially greenlit the production of a live-action Assassin’s Creed series,” said a post byfaurearlion Reddit. “But what some might’ve missed is that right after the announcement, Lebanese actor and stuntman Lee Majdoub — best known as the voice and face of Basim Ibn Ishaq in Assassin’s Creed Mirage — posted a tweet saying he’d love to be involved in the project.”
Based on his past work, as well as his role in Mirage, Majdoub would make a great frontman for the show. However, there’s more to the theory. “Now here’s my little theory: what if this series is actually that rumored Mirage continuation the Saudis were funding? Could all of this just be part of a calculated audience warm-up — something that’s become pretty common in modern show marketing?” they added.
At the time, it was reported thatSaudi Arabia was funding a DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but maybe it was actually the TV show.
Back in 2023, Majdoub also tweeted out asking “Live action Basim whan?” And, of course, Shohreh Aghdashloo would reprise her role as Roshan, which everyone would be delighted to see. faurearli also mentioned an “Assassin-themed show” calledHashashin, which launched last year, and could have influenced the decision to base Netflix’s show on Mirage and Basim.
Of course, they concluded that all of this is just speculation, but these are some interesting points.
