Summary
Andor has, unfortunately, come to an end, but the mark it has left onStar Wars, and TV as a whole, will be felt for years to come. Partly because it has introduced the world to Elizabeth Dulau. Dulau played Kleya on the show, and with a whole post-Andor career still ahead of her, the actress has revealed it’s her dream to one day portray Lara Croft in aTomb Raiderproject.
Dulau spoke withCountry & Town Houseabout all things Andor, revealing she wasn’t much of a Star Wars fan before being cast as Kleya - don’t hold that against her, sounds like she’s all caught up now. When asked what else she’d like to do in her career, Dulau went immediately to action hero, quickly pinpointing Lara Croft as her dream role.
“A dream role would actually be some sort of action hero, someone like Lara Croft,” Dulau said. “I idolized characters like her and Indiana Jones as a kid, running around the house fighting imaginary bad guys… Seeing a female character be that undeniably cool, clever, and physically capable was so inspiring to me as a child, and my life would really come full circle if I ever got the chance to be that to other kids.”
Elizabeth Dulau Killed It As Kleya In Andor
Hard To Imagine Her Not Being A Frontrunner Whenever The World Needs Its Next Lara Croft
That presumably means, at some point in Dulau’s life at least, she was a gamer. Unless she only knows Croft from the Tomb Raider movies, I guess, in which case she should check out the recent remastered trilogies. Dulau does mention one other game during the interview, although it’s technically a reference to its adaptation -The Last of Us. Dulau noted how excited she was for season two, which has been running in tandem with Andor’s second season and comes to an end next week.
We’re almost certainly going to be seeing a lot more of Dulau moving forward. As the actress notes in the interview, Andor was her first job out of theater school. Quite the baptism of fire to not only be placed in a key role in a Star Wars project, but in what has wound up becoming one of the best-loved Star Wars projects of the last decade, if not ever.
As for the likelihood of Dulau getting the chance to play Lara Croft one day, I don’t see why not. Not only does she have the look, but we could be about to enter a new era of Tomb Raider media. There were reports this week thatthe first new Tomb Raider game in a decade might be nearing the end of development. Too late for Dulau to play Croft in that, if it’s the real deal, but she should be front of the line if that theoretical game ends up getting an adaptation.
