Unlike previous games in the series,Rune Factory: Guardians of Azumadoes away with typical magical spells and replaces them with super-powerful sacred treasures that have a wide range of uses. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock quite a few of these handy treasures, and mastery over them all is key to getting the most out of the game.
From helping out on the farm and in your social life to destroying enemies on the battlefield, clever use of Azuma’s sacred treasures is key to success, so it’s handy to know when you gain access to them all.
All Sacred Treasures And When They’re Unlocked
There are eight Sacred Treasures in the game, and they are all unlocked through your progress in the story:
Unlocked
Plum Branch
During the quest ‘The Dance of Bonds and Save Statues’ at the start of the game.
Sacred Drum
During the quest ‘After the Disaster’ at the start of the game.
Sacred Sword
During the quests that take place when you first reach Summer Village.
Sacred Fan
During the quests that take place when you first reach Autumn Village.
Sacred Parasol
During the quests that take place when you first reach Winter Village.
After completing the Astral Shrines portion of the main story.
Sacred Staff
Once you’re instructed to enter the Heavenly Realm as part of the main story.
Terra Tiller
During the quest ‘Clearing Debris’ at the start of the game.
All Sacred Treasure Abilities
Apart from the Terra Tiller, which is used only to decorate and organise villages and also to farm more efficiently,each of your Sacred Treasures has abilitiesboth onandoff the battlefield.
Village Ability
Can be used to tame monsters after battle if you have Barns with space available.
Will increase a target NPC’s social gauge with you slightly.
The Drum Dance stuns enemies and heals both you and your allies slightly.
Used to restore generic blight, such as that which affects trees.
When used near crops, the Drum Dance will speed up their growth by a single day.
Can also be used to revive withered crops.
The Sword Dance performs some swings that deal a large amount of fire damage.
If the Sword is equipped, any arrows shot with a bow will become fire elemental.
If used on a crop ready to harvest, you will instead gain multiple seeds with a chance of gaining higher level seeds than the crops would have been.
The Sword can be used to eliminate green blight, whether with the Sword Dance’s swings or with a fiery arrow.
The Fan Dance shoots homing projectiles of whirlwinds, which deal large wind damage to enemies in its path.
A Fan Dance’s whirlwind can gather crops, but it’s faster to gather crops using the bird’s-eye-view when equipped with the Terra Tiller.
The whirlwinds will also deal with purple blight.
As a bonus, equipping the Fan will increase the speed of your dashing.
The Parasol Dance deals water damage to enemies close by. When upgraded, it can be comboed into a large area-of-effect attack.
When equipped, the Parasol turns your jumps into glides, allowing you to cross far larger gaps.
The water from a Parasol Dance will water crops, but it’s faster to do this with the Terra Tiller’s overhead view.
The Parasol Dance attacks can also deal with red blight.
Sacred Oni Mask
The Mask Dance is a close-range combo attack which deals large dark damage and is upgraded severely through the skill tree.
Attacks with the Mask Dance can destroy objects in the field that glow with purple cracks.
The Staff Dance summons small motes of light which fly forwards and shoot at enemies for light damage.
When equipped, invisible objects are revealed by the Staff. This is crucial to late-game puzzles.
How To Upgrade Sacred Treasures
While all of your Sacred Treasures can be used as soon as you obtain them, they can only beupgraded once you’ve completed quests that are associated with the relevant gods(For example, Ululaka for the Sacred Drum). You’ll simply need to progress the story to do this.
Upgrading Sacred Treasures is performed through theskill tree, and gaining experience points for each treasure simply requires using them either on or off the battlefield.
ThePlum Branch and Terra Tillerhave no upgrades!
