In the futuristic, Greek mythology-inspired world ofNeon Abyss 2, you’ll be selecting one of several different Agents with which to traverse the Neon Abyss with. As you defeat enemies and delve further into the dungeon, you’ll find yourself coming across colorful eggs.

These eggs can often be hatched into Hatchmon, unique creatures that serve as both a companion and an ally against the variety of enemies you’ll be facing. They hunt down enemies on your behalf, look cute, and if you’re lucky, you might be able to evolve them into Super Hatchmon and utilize their unique abilities to help you take down the Targets.

What Are Hatchmons?

Hatchmons are smallcreatures that you can hatch from eggsthat will follow andassist you in fighting any enemyyou’re facing. They float behind you while out of combat, and when entering combat, they’llautomatically search out and attack enemies, even if you stand still.

Anattack from an enemy will knock them unconscious, causing them todrop to the groundand stay there, but they can berevived by running over them, or if youhave certain relics, such as the Tenacious Sapling, they’llautomatically be revivedafter a certain amount of time.

There’sno limit to the amount of Hatchmons and Eggs you may have, but you can limit the amount shown on screen to reduce screen clutter and potential distractionsby going into the Settings.

They come infive different mini variants– Pinky, Tealy, Ivory, Purply, and Limey – and when you have acertain combination of four mini Hatchmon, such as three Pinky and one Limey, the Hatchmons willevolve to form a stronger Super Hatchmon, which can haveunique abilities and stronger attacks.

Besides being helpful allies,certain Weapons and Artifacts grow strongeror give bonuses based on theamount of Hatchmon or Eggs you havewith you, so they’re also one of themain sub-categories your equipment can have.

How To Get And Hatch Hatchmons

Hatchmonsstart as eggs that areobtained in several ways:breaking objects, as a reward forcompleting a room, purchasing them from theTemple of Shopping, and openingchests of any typeor rarity, with themost common wayto get them being frombreaking Crates and Vases.

Some Agents, such as Elise, come with special Hatchmons that are unique to them and can’t be evolvedinto Super Hatchmon.

After anegg is picked up, you will be given arandom eggbelonging toone of the five basic Hatchmon variants, and you’llneed to hatch it.

Hatching a Hatchmon is doneprimarily by defeating enemies in rooms, with themsuccessfully hatchingaroundevery three to four rooms on average.

Eggs have achance of not hatching anything or failing to hatch, but a successful hatch will always show a notification saying an egg hatchedand telling you what Hatchmon you got.

Obtainingcertain Artifacts, such as the Dinosaur Skull, caninfluence the hatching speedand determine ifother actions, like causing explosions, also give progresstowards hatching them.

The Temple Of Agapeism

Once you unlock thefirst perk in the Evolution Skill Tree,complete the first page, and level up enough tounlock the Agapeism Perk on the second page, you’ll unlock theability to visit the Temple of Agapeism.

Like with Consumerism,Agapeism is one of several paths of faithyou can take from thePillar of Faith at the beginning of each floor, and yougain faith for it by obtaining or hatching eggs.

Agapeism causes theAgapeism Proxy to spawn randomly in rooms, and it drops an egg each time it’s struck.

When you have a full faith meter, you can use the Pillar of Faith or the Teleporter to visit the Temple of Agapeism, a realm where you canbuy eggs for 15 Gold each, trade excess eggs for Gold, or use themachine in the centerof the room tohatch several Hatchmon instantly.

Like other Temples,leaving the room will cause the temple to disappear, but you canre-enter it on the next floorby selectingAgapeism from the Pillar of Faith againon the next floor.

How To Get Super Hatchmons

Super Hatchmons arestronger, non-mini Hatchmonsthat each come with aunique ability, on top ofdoing more damage than the mini Hatchmons, thoughsome are less likely to attack than othersdue to their ability.

All evolution-based Super Hatchmon require four mini Hatchmon to make up their combination, and duplicate minis will stay with you until you get an evolution combination.

These Hatchmons can only be obtained byevolving certain combinations of mini Hatchmon, or by obtaining a particular weapon or activating a particular event, such as taking out aloan from the Temple of Shoppingwill get you theGrabie Hatchmon.

The Super Hatchmon you get isstrictly determined by the combination, and thesecond you get a viable combination, the neededmini Hatchmon will evolveinto it.

Youaren’t able to choosewhat Super Hatchmon you’ll evolve firstunless you make use of a Color Changing Machineto manipulate which ones you have, as it allows you tochange a mini Hatchmon’s colors in exchange for Gold.

All Hatchmons Available

There are fivebasic mini Hatchmons, and each has a certain number of evolutions: Pinky has eight, Limey and Tealy have seven, Purply has six, and Ivory has four.

Hatchmon eggs come in several patterned varieties, but the only thing that determines the Hatchmon you get is the main color of the egg, such as how Pinky can come from pink-dotted eggs or pink and white-striped eggs.

There are23 different Super Hatchmon available, with themajority of them being an evolutionfrom a combination of mini Hatchmon.

You cansee a list of all Super Hatchmon evolution recipes with the Hatchmon Booklet in the Hatchmon tab of your menu, though it doesn’t list their names and abilities.

Whilemost of them attack enemiesfor you, afew of them, such as Grabie,very rarely attackand willonly do damageif you have aweapon that grants an attack of some kind with the Hatchmon, such as RITUAL and the spikes it generates.

Evolution Combo or How To Obtain

Huffie

3 Ivory and 1 Pinky

Taking damage increases his attack damage. Damage bonus resets each floor.

Snippie

1 Ivory and 3 Pinky

Splits any dropped items into smaller units if possible, such as splitting a Crystal Set into individual Crystals.

Vitalie

3 Purply and 1 Tealy

Starts as a ghost. Picks up and consumes Hearts to become physical and charge his ability. Once charged, if you die, he’ll take the lethal damage instead and become a ghost again.

Wackie

2 Tealy and 2 Ivory

Throws Clown Bombs as his main attack. After getting revived, he releases a barrage of Clown Bombs.

Quartzie

3 Pinky and 1 Limey

Duplicates the effect of a used Curio for no additional cost.

Cloudie

3 Purply and 1 Limey

Grants you an extra jump and occasionally spawns Jump Marks during combat.

Devotie

3 Tealy and 1 Pinky

Prevents you from taking damage when swapping Faiths at the Pillar of Faith.

Groovie

1 Pinky and 3 Limey

Ensures weapons do critical hits while his green light is on during combat.

Lumine

2 Tealy and 2 Pinky

Floats around during combat while producing a halo. If you fire your weapon while in her halo’s area of effect, weapon damage is significantly increased.

Goldie

3 Tealy and 1 Ivory

Scatters Golden Glitters during combat, and when revived, creates a golden wave.

Runie

2 Ivory and 2 Pinky

If there are no Runestones in combat, Runie will periodically create them. If there are Runestones placed in combat, Runie destroys them to cause damage.
