10Science Fiction

It’s A Science Fiction Double Feature

Aliens, spaceships, and time machines - oh my! Science fiction is a genre dedicated to combining fantastical elements with the cold, hard logic of science. While it isn’t always rooted in reality, it is always rooted in some sort of scientific tradition - no matter how silly.

Science Fiction isn’t one of the genres your studio starts with. It has to be unlocked over time, which makes it sort of useless in the early game. But as tastes change and science marches on, audiences will be hungering for anything sci-fi.Build your reputationandsave that cashif you want to bring silver ships to silver screens.

9Horror

Creepy-crawlies abound in the Horror genre, a genre that is perfect for anything mysterious and macabre. Some of the earliest movies ever made were horror films, making it right at home in Hollywood Animal.

This is another genre that has to be unlocked, but once unlocked it can be combined with other genres like action for slashers, romance for gothic horror, and historical for ghost stories. No matter what you use, it is wise to have a good script, as the writing and acting truly defines a horror film. Audiences will ignore production values if they’re too scared to notice.

8Historical

A Hysterical Historical

Oh, Mr. Darcy. The Historical genre is one of the most adaptive genres in terms of what can be done with it. It can fit anything between dramatic war movies to romantic regency escapes. This genre tends to be more expensive as costumes and locations drive up prices, but the result is often breathtaking.

In its ability to tell many stories comes its ability to be lucrative. This genre can appeal to multiple audiences, which of course earns you multiple sources of income. While it isn’t the most exciting, if you choose your story elements carefully, Historical will rarely disappoint.

A Chiller Thriller Tonight

Secrets lurk atthe heart of each studio as secrets lurk at the heart of every thriller film. In thrillers, the mysteries are tight, and the stories are grim. Femme fatales hide in every shadow and brooding, tortured heroes search for hidden truths.

While it doesn’t stand on its own as well as the more lucrative genres, thrillers are great to combine with genres like Adventure and Detective. This makes it very versatile. It can also function on its own with strong villains and memorable heroes. The more mysterious, the better - make sure to go full Hitchcock when you plan scripts.
