The Edge of Fate expansion forDestiny 2has made some major shake-ups to the sandbox. With a new gear tiering system and Armor 3.0, every build is going to receive some changes. And that’s not even including the artifact, arguably one of the most pivotal sources of player power for a given build.
In Edge of Fate, the artifact has some absurdly powerful options that will push Stasis and Strand builds to the spotlight. Today, we’ll be giving a general overview of this season’s artifact, explaining how every perk works in both PvE and PvP. But before we do, let’s first go over how the artifact works this season.
How The Artifact Works
The Implement of Curiosity is a seasonal artifact you’ll unlock early on in The Edge of Fate. This item has a grid of perks you’re able to unlock through gameplay, applying to both PvE and PvP content. You earn perk points for the Artifact through XP. All XP you earn will contribute towards your next Artifact perk unlock, not just content tied to The Edge of Fate.
Perks are broken up into columns that must be progressed in sequence. For example, you must allocate three perks in the first column to unlock the second column’s perk options. Exact unlock thresholds are listed below.
Column One Perks
Anti-Barrier Scout and Pulse Rifle
Equipped Scout and Pulse Rifles fire shield-piercing rounds, strong against Barrier Champions.
Additionally, these weapons are always Overcharged when that modifier is active.
Unstoppable Sidearm and Hand Cannon
Aiming for a short duration loads Sidearms and Hand Cannons with an explosive payload, stunning Unstoppable Champions.
Unstoppable Sniper
Aiming for a short duration loads Sniper Rifles with an explosive payload, stunning Unstoppable Champions.
Overload Shotgun
Equipped Shotguns fire disrupting rounds, stunning Overload Champions.
Overload Rapid Fire Weapons
Auto Rifles and SMGs fire disrupting rounds, disrupting Overload Champions.
Anti-Barrier Weaponsfire shield-piercing rounds that can damage Barrier Champion shields. Additionally, these rounds may pierce immunity shields present on Vex Hydras, Hobgoblins, and physical shields held by the Hive Knights and Cabal Phalanxes. If you’re playing PvP, Anti-Barrier Rounds gain a 20% damage bonus against Titan barricades.
Overload Weaponsgenerate charge as you fire them, eventually loading an overload bullet into the chamber. Hitting a target with an overload round will disrupt and exhaust them. Exhaustion causes the target to deal less damage; disruption stuns Overload Champions and delays ability regeneration. Both effects have minimal effects inside the Crucible.
Unstoppable Weaponsload an explosive projectile if you aim down sights for a second without firing. This projectile stuns Unstoppable Champions and forces targets to stagger. The explosion deals no damage on its own; it only staggers.
Flame, Fiber, and Freeze
Unlocks Solar/Strand and Solar/Stasis siphon mods for your helmet.
Each mod costs 3 energy. Counts as having both mods equipped simultaneously.
All scavenger mods cost 1 energy.
